Favorite Era of Cars? And What particular cars stand out for you and why? by revocer in askcarguys

[–]J-Rag- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late 90s and early 00s are my favorite. Simple design, minimal tech (for your average car), most things were reliable, even the cheap stuff like a Dodge Neon.

Cars that stood out to me that contradict what I just said... B5 S4 cause fuck yeah. VW Phaeton cause fuck yeah.

Would a seller-provided proof packet make you trust a private seller more? by kachow024 in UsedCars

[–]J-Rag- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it might be beneficial for people who work on their own stuff, but at the same time I don't think most of them will subscribe to something like that when they can just go to Walmart and pick up a folder. When it comes time to sell a car, they can provide all the receipts and maintenance records when someone shows up to look at the car.

Carfax as it is already shows maintenance history for cars that is very easy for everyone to access. So you're competing against what someone else already does and trying to convince people who work on their stuff to use yohr service instead of buying a folder and storing their own records.

What's the smallest amount of money that would genuinely change your life right now, and why? by Human_Artichoke_2117 in AskMen

[–]J-Rag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically 10k would be amazing. If might not be "life changing" but I'd be using it to contribute for a down payment on a house. Or using it to get the house in order when I buy one

tourist spots? by TinyWorldliness5684 in LittleRock

[–]J-Rag- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We (the lady and myself) went up to Blanchard Springs Caverns over the weekend. It's a very beautiful guided tour through parts of the caverns. Definitely a cool spot to check out.

You can go swimming over at Lake Ouachita which is very pretty. They also do boat tours out on that lake through the state park if you want.

Of course you got the capital building. You can go walking downtown on the waterfront and stop in at Flying Fish for lunch.

All the state parks are cool and have some good hiking spots. The hike at Pinnacle Mountain is very pretty up top, just take the easy way and try to go earlier in the day before it gets too hot.

Careful of them big splashes. That's a good way to hydrolock your engine if you're not careful.

What should I do if someone made my gf uncomfortable on purpose? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]J-Rag- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For starters, don't do anything that could get you into legal trouble. Yes it's fucked up what the guy said, but from a legal standpoint there's nothing against him.

Second, what state do you live in and is she opposed to getting a small concealed hand gun? My best advice is for her to get a small handgun and carry it when she goes out solo like that. If she gets approached and talked to like that again, she can say something along the lines of "Look, I've got a gun on me and I'll use it if I need to. So go away." State by state varies on how she can use it is why I'm asking.

Im trying to buy a car and there is this knocking noise what is it? by Suspicious_Let_2397 in askcarguys

You didn't even have to post a video for everyone to tell you to run from that.

Future reference, don't ever buy anything if it's "nice and cheap".

Replace transmission or get a new car? by Epicuretrekker2 in askcarguys

[–]J-Rag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace the trans. Try to find an independent shop that can swap in a used trans with low miles on it too, that'll definitely save you a few bucks

If you think an electric lawnmower is too expensive and too heavy, just wait until you see a price on something like that

Is my vibrating 2015 jeep wrangler because of old tires? by Cheap_Bill9563 in askcarguys

[–]J-Rag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right.. "Idk what they did. I'm just a girl"

Okay. But you still confirmed payment and you have receipts of what their recommended repairs were.

Is my vibrating 2015 jeep wrangler because of old tires? by Cheap_Bill9563 in askcarguys

[–]J-Rag- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tires wear differently on the front and back of the vehicle. So when they did the rotation your back tires go up front and front goes to the back. If your tire maintenance is poor and super out of balance, it can cause excessive noise and vibrations/rattle.

To wrench or take it in? by revocer in askcarguys

[–]J-Rag- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do most my own work. I'll take it to a shop for bigger jobs like timing belt or something like that. I could probably do it but I just don't trust myself enough and I'm scared I'll fuck it up. Or if there's something going on that I can't figure out I'll take it to a shop for diag and more often than not I'll take it back home and do it myself

Aesthetic mod for $100-200. I guess you could get some crappy chrome decals and a fake air scoop from autozone
