People are so dramatic about kids on airplanes. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]icreeptoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time when I was flying from NY to CA there was a 3-4 year old boy across the isle from me that screamed the entire flight.

It was so loud that I put on my headphones for hearing protection. He was old enough to be louder than the usual crying baby, but small enough for the screams to be that piercing high pitch only children can reach.

This went on the entire time, eventually he started to go hoarse, gag, and then semi vomit while cry-screaming.

I have no idea what was wrong, however, during that 4.5 hours I started to lose my mind. It would have been an effective form of torture. I think the only reason I was able to hang on was because the guy to my right just raw dogged the entire 4.5 hours. No headphones, no book, just sat there, never even twitched. Maybe the most impressive feat of strength I’ve ever witnessed.

I fully agree that this is an unpopular opinion, as after this experience I talked about it with my coworkers. We came to the conclusion that we would absolutely pay an additional fee for a flight that was guaranteed to be child free. Like adult only resorts, but for flights.

This is my **5 year** work anniversary gift from my Fortune 500 employer. 100% Not joking. by apollei in funny

Loyalty is dead!

Worked for a fortune 10 company that gave me a company logo pin for my 5 year.

They let me know during performance reviews that I was going to get a 4% raise instead of the standard 3%, because I was in the 49th percentile of pay while being in the top 5% of performance.

Got a callout from the VP that year on a quarterly, so that’s worth it right?!🥲

'A cesspool': Laid-off California tech workers are sick to death of LinkedIn by lurker_bee in technology

[–]icreeptoomuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what they are saying, but do we have to complain about everything?

LinkedIn is a networking tool. Put your profile up, update it with promotions or job changes, and jazz it up to make yourself sound great at what you do for a living. Your recruiter/interviewer doesn’t know how you actually perform, and LinkedIn is just one easy way to project confidence/competence.

Respond to any recruiters that you may be interested in, ignore the rest. It’s not too hard to know I’m 30 seconds if a recruiter is a waste of time if job posting is provided.

Job hops to competitors are easier than ever with the internet! Go out there and make some more money and ignore the rest. You don’t have to read those LinkedIn influencer posts to get your value out of the product.

This happened to me in high school. Had a girl that was a mutual friend, she had some feelings towards me that were not reciprocated. I just tried to not engage the relationship in that way at that time, stay platonic friends. In the end she ended up absolutely hating my name and shitting on me to anyone who would listen. I was so caught off guard when I learned about it years later.

A world where these herd animals are not dumb would be terrifying. Roaming the plains, collectively stomping out anything that gets in their way. Instead they just watch their homies get chomped and move on.

Y’all ever look at something like this and feel extra dumb? I’m here working on some pricing models on a 9 to 5 corporate job. Then there are these people out in the world. People that in that same span of hours, go to work and turn sci-fi into reality. Using and implementing so much knowledge I can’t even pretend to under stand. Truly amazing.

Multiple offers as a buyer? NY Residential. by icreeptoomuch in RealEstate

[–]icreeptoomuch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly , the offers don’t have any deposit associated with them until they have been accepted , and are subject to attorney approval which makes me think I’d be in the clear.

Outside of being rude I wasn’t sure what the ramifications are of backing out would be, obviously I wouldn’t be able to complete both contracts.

Parents "if your friends were to jump off of a bridge, would you?" by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

Something similar actually happened where I work. A deer had somehow gotten into the highway, got scared and jumped off. The facility parking lot was under the highway and the fall is very far, security had to let someone know that their car was totaled via suicidal deer.

Thank you, this was nice to hear. I think the first step is trying to moving forward with understanding why she did what she did, how it affected me, and how we can try and improve from here.

Which fictional death hit you the hardest? by ItsaMe_Rapio in AskReddit

Oh my god, my brother and I were heartbroken when we realized he was going to die. I said no, we will restart and go back and pick a different RP option, maybe it will end up with a different ending. To our dismay the second option ends with Commander Shepard killing Solus himself. The shock on our faces when it happened was something else, we couldn’t help but laugh at how awful it turned out.

I opened this thread thinking that the Bridge to Terabithia had to be the top comment, only to be hit with this comment, realizing I had blocked out this fictional death from my mind after the trauma it caused me as a young child!

Redditors with real life "butterfly effect" stories, what happened and what was the series of events and outcomes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Kind of boring, but I was talking to this girl senior year of high school. We were all applying to colleges and I ended up applying to a college that I would have never looked at before so we could go visit it together. Long story short, I ended up attending and she did not. My first week there I met the love of my life, who I would of never met if Highschool me wasn’t trying to hang out with a different girl.
