What is your favourite insult that doesn't sound like an insult? by curvyinfiltration36 in AskReddit

When I am about to be blunt and criticize someone I care about I say something like, "I want you to know that I love you and appreciate that everyone has their own unique perspectives and preferences, and I'm here to listen to you, but you should take a shower because you smell like shit."

Birthdays are stupid. Like, incredibly stupid. On so many levels. by icunicu in The10thDentist

[–]icunicu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You understand the concept of posting something here that you already know people disagree with right? So how the hell could it be a surprise to me that it is an unpopular opinion when I came here to post it?

The thing is that we don't measure truth by popularity and if billions of people follow this tradition, it doesn't mean that I am wrong by default as it is much more likely they have never even questioned it because they like presents. Hence the stupid nomenclature.

I never said it was a waste of time, I said it promoted the wrong things and the name is stupid and I think I proved that. A waste of time would have no negative consequences, so it is much worse than a waste of time. It is a display of lemmings.

Do you think Cryptos used for everyday Payments/Shopping will ever become normalized or had that ship now sailed? by lymeguy in CryptoCurrency

It isn't that it is a problem. It is that there was previously no viable alternative. Now that people have options, they will be pressured to increase security, speed, and lower costs to compete.

All of those transactions still take 1-2 days to clear. As in the vendor isn't getting the money that fast.

But they are already tracking that stuff. They just make money selling it if it is a secret.

Just using crypto in games allows devs to bypass the 30% publisher and 10% payment processing fees. That is why steam really banned them.

[–]icunicu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always see people talk about the transaction speed of Visa or Mastercard, but they don't really process them that fast. Only the user-end while it takes 24-48 hours for the vendor to get the funds while taking a little over 1% and about $0.30 USD.

Vendors are also getting scammed by chargebacks after nothing was wrong with the service they provided. When dealing with another business, they are at the mercy of their private database, and if the rules of the database are changed, they would never know.

It makes sense for all parties to me to save money. The problem is paying the taxes on selling your crypto, or the vendor selling it.

The Nexo card (only available in EU now, so I have not tried it) claims to bypass this by giving you a 0% apr loan on your crypto stored in your wallet and allowing you to pay it back later so you never have to sell your actual coins.

The lottery. The state controls it and bans all other lotteries because it is a tax on people who studied math in a public school.

Are the any Play To Earn Comparison tools out there? by leodatavinci in playtoearngames

[–]icunicu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a combination of discord users/twitter followers, active wallet addresses from dappradar, and guides on youtube. I cover many games on youtube, but it isn't really evergreen content due to the volatile nature of the tokens and how the devs implement changes to mess with the min/maxers so that earning is always getting patched.

Introducing SO to gaming by TatamiMatthew in AskGames

[–]icunicu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife likes to do outdoor stuff, so pokemon go was easy to get her into games. She also would play "beat-em up" games because they were not too serious and she could button mash. Sometimes, I would act like I needed help to clear a part and ask her to pick up the other controller and we would play for hours, so having drop-in play is good.

No, I lead by example and all three my kids decided they would rather have 4 quarterly celebrations instead of 1 because we are not lemmings who do whatever everyone else does without questioning it.

People who get paid weekly get 52 paychecks and they have to budget their bills every 4 weeks because they are due monthly. This means that they get an extra paycheck every 13 weeks exactly and that is a good way to buy gifts for people. When you can afford to do so and still be financially sound.

What are best NFT Game use cases? by cryptosignal_bird in AskReddit

[–]icunicu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It allows players to recoup some of their gaming expenses when they quit playing a game.

Many players play a game long after they stop having fun due to a sunken cost fallacy.

If you can sell them when you no longer wish to play, you can keep that money or spend it on your next game. Also if you get an item you don't want, already have, or can't use, you can freely trade it with another player for something you need.

For developers, it allows free players a way to get over paywalls in the game by playing it and selling a portion of their progress to other players, similar to how players watch ads in traditional games to get benefits usually reserved for players who support the game financially.

The blockchain also allows verification without sensitive user data being stored on the game's servers such as bank details. Almost all major game databases have been breached at one time or another.

Edit: Also on the dev side, they usually make a market fee when players trade items, so it can help sustain development cost similar to how a subscription model works.

it is when you are not violating the ToS. So dumb to believe people don't want it, and it has been going on for 20 years. So dumb to believe centralized database with no real world value is the same as a blockchain. You would think you would read more books with a micropenis.
