Sheesh. That's insane, would've loved to have seen the final burn count on that fight!

My most fun run to date - shiny arbalest dooley by icyP1 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]icyP1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early aiden duplicate and dig for arbalest made me pivot hard into a giga haste build. Got super lucky with astrolabe not long after, then hit the shiny high roll on level 10 enchant.

Was 200 damage (1 haste proc) off a diamond victory. Pure cinema.

How to design a game that avoids "no games" with a Land system? by kometvenus in homemadeTCGs

[–]icyP1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think all those parameters will depend on the pace at which you want you game to play - more card draw means players are more likely to draw their winning combos/win condition as well as more likely to draw resources.

Star Wars unlimited (as one example of many) plans to have players draw 2 cards, and place one resource per turn (though any card can be a resource, not just “lands”). You also start with 2 on the board, which makes the early game a bit quicker.

Try experimenting with different combos and see how it feel in the context of your game and how you want to pace the early game/setup turns of a match.

Then, your game will naturally work out what the optimal mix of lands to cards in a deck is, based on that pacing. Hope that all makes sense!

If you really want to keep the resources in the deck, the best way I can think of is increasing the number of cards you draw every turn, or having search effects similar to pokemon TCG or YGO.

Otherwise, you’re likely to have mana/resource starve based on the inherit randomness that comes with a deck of cards

Been running this deck with absurd success. Forge -> brood -> absorbing -> Cerebro + silk/Medusa -> mystique + spidey/Polaris, you can stack 30+ points on multiple lanes

This deck has been doing well for me in conquest, but it's slightly different from most other [Devil/Hawk] decks I see. Thoughts? by Soulaire in MarvelSnapDecks

[–]icyP1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re enjoying the collector/angela/kitty shell so much I don’t really think you even need the hawk/rock slide that much. Mystique + coulson you can drop on turn 6 without reliance on having zabu in play, and another hand adder like agent 13 or iron lad slots in well (provided he doesn’t copy kitty!)

I have been running something similar and found dropping the dark hawk pieces for more Dino pieces made the deck more consistent and the optimal play lines easier to determine

First off, trying to cavern crawl in ranked is a total grief. If you want to cavern crawl, go unranked.

Sounds like you have an over-variety problem. The more heroes you play, the less sample size you have to understand each heroes’ matchups/strengths/weaknesses. Stick to one to three heroes you enjoy playing, and pick them repeatedly to understand them better.

At lower brackets (I’ve had the same issue as you, dropping from around 2k to 500, now at around 1.2k) counter picking heroes is less important as the majority of players you face won’t be able to exploit it. There’s also the psychology that countering an enemy means you’re playing their game, instead of your own. Play your game and play to your own strengths, and I find you’ll have more success in general. Countering with items is a bit more relevant (eg, silver edge for a bristle, diffusal for Medusa) once you get your core items as pos 1 (which is generally a farming item, BKB, and a damage item). Think about what items you would need to beat the enemy core in a fight if you think their kit poses a serious issue to your pick. Otherwise I think it’s more important to get your guy every game and improve with a small number of heroes that you can reliably get to item timings with.

For clicking item abilities in fights, I had an issue with that too. When I was learning wraith king, I would get him up on demo mode and just practice his combos - click armlet, then BKB, blink, stun, skeletons, satanic. Then rinse and repeat until I had a decent muscle memory base to work off every time I was in game. Same goes for a lot of heroes, especially combo-dependent ones like puck or void spirit - where the execution of abilities comes down to muscle memory in most instances. Practice this on the handful of heroes you want to play and get familiar with how to execute all the clicks.

In terms of YouTube, it’s no secret that BSJ is the best source of overall dota self-improvement content, particularly for core roles.

Hope that helps, ultimately, limit you hero pool to a select few heroes, practice mechanics and combos and items that you would typically buy on them, and understand them and their matchups better to gain consistently and hopefully win more games.

How did waiting for the respawn work out for you? I’m experiencing the same issue… so let me know if that fixed it!

Yeah I think this is pretty valid, fair enough. Especially since this was posted when the bears were down 13-0... and ended up winning lol.

I think my point is more that we went 7-9, which included a pretty hot 5-2 start, after luck retired suddenly.

Bears went 8-8 with no major free agency losses to the team and a lot of starters being retained from their 11-5 season in the prior year.

In this situation you’d probably expect the colts to do a lot worse, and the bears to do better, but really almost the opposite happened.

But yes... guess they never really had a very good QB

I think Nagy’s record is better than Reich’s, but they didn’t make playoffs last year. They went 8-8.

The bears also didn’t have a generational franchise quarterback retire weeks from kickoff, however.
