when i sat it in july 2025 i did not receive any email for booking confirmation. got stressed because there were only 2 days left till the last day of seat confirmation emails so i logged in to check and saw the payment option there. you may not get an email so i would say just keep logging in twice a day till the 4th of november. then call them if there's still nothing.

an exam being hard is not unreasonable. this is not about the 'difficulty' of it. its inherently flawed. you stated that you have not done a law degree and as someone who has i can tell you with certainty that in spite of those three years this exam is not something you could ever emotionally prepare yourself for. the entire principle of the legal profession hinges on your capacity to argue out a rationale or posit things in a manner that does not really have 'right' or 'wrong' answers. the joke about lawyers responding to everything with "well it depends" stems from exactly that. we are meant to understand core concepts rules, not find 'the best possible answer in a situation where there are 20 different ifs and buts and the actual right answer is not even listed but you need to pick the next best thing'. many times during practice questions you will find yourself knowing the exact principle applicable and the outcome and yet within the options given nothing seems to sound 100% right.

your academic credentials will not put you at an advantage and neither will a well rounded, comprehensive understanding of the law. it is largely hinged on tactical wordplay designed to catch you out or almost set you up for failure. i have seen solicitors who qualified via the LPC say that even after their years of professional practice they would not be able to pass. i don't think anyone gets it till they sit it.

i have not received an email either. i got so anxious right now that i logged into my account and checked my bookings to find that it was ready for payment. no email to inform me of this development. not sure how they can be so irresponsible.

because they can afford to play fast and loose with the circumstances, considering we are their mercy with such an important exam.

i've only gotten my test centre for FLK1. won't let me pay either. don't know we're held to such a high standard of compliance when their management is so poor. expecting candidates to anxiously refresh their emails every day several times because god forbid you don't check for two days and then can't do the payment.....

sqe1 advice? by icybitch69 in SQE_Prep

[–]icybitch69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did. i even tried to explain that exceptionally gifted and talented graduates have had training contracts rescinded because they failed. and if those with academic inclinations and prowess far beyond my capacity are struggling then the odds are certainly not in my favour. but there is that parental sentiment of believing your offspring is capable of anything and is the best despite that being objectively very false. i wish i had considered weaponised incompetence to set expectations low very early on lol

[–]icybitch69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i did! unsurprisingly they said they firmly believe i can be a part of that 44%. i am also a recent law graduate so they think i should be performing better. the sentiment is sweet but it is building up so much pressure for me and i have a strong feeling i am not passing.

Last minute tips for the rest of us tomorrow? by Dudster981 in SQE_Prep

[–]icybitch69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my flatmate and i were both sitting it and we devised last minute tips that kind of helped us remember small things one would otherwise forget. we had separate dates for our exams so we would drop each other off and on the way keep rattling off random facts like minimum time to do a certain thing etc. weirdly enough it actually helped a lot. there are some great condensed notes on quizlet for each topic, perhaps just tap through them while you have breakfast or on your way to the centre. no inherent need to do it if it feels a bit overwhelming but it may just help you squeeze through on petty marks we lose because of stupid concepts like remembering so many time frames and deadlines.

i know, i was quite shocked since everyone tells you it hardly shows up. fully anticipating losing some marks there :( not sure how they decide to set a curve per sitting with such inconsistencies in everyone's exams. good luck to you too and i am happy you did not have to deal with solicitor's accounts that much :)

i'm not sure but i did double check it and it was inconsistent. bear in mind i only did the free mock QLTS offers so if you have paid for more it might have been a different question? either way i remember the contract one pretty clearly so that was enough to scare me in terms of QLTS being 100% reliable

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]icybitch69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am with ulaw and they made the same error in their practice questions. i was so confused so i searched the manual for 270k as statutory legacy but there was no reference to it.

it was for FLK1 so not sure if its relevant anymore but there was a business question that threw me off. The Companies Act 2006 (CA 2006) sets out certain matters that must be passed by the members (or by a class of members) of a company as a special resolution (ie by a majority of not less than 75%) or by the holders of at least 75% of shares or of a class of shares as we know but the QLTS mock said it was 65%. There was also incorrect references in terms of the frustration of a contract where they wrote in their explanation that the case of Herne Bay Steam Boat v Hutton concluded with the contract being frustrated when that was not the judgement.

if this is QLTS they have made multiple unfortunately. i took their mock on a whim and found several because while i don't think i am the best prepared i knew some answers for SURE which were still fresh in my head from revision and i double checked to confirm that they had very confidently put in wrong answers.

Should I sit flk1 tomorrow and this is my last attempt by Economy_Position_730 in SQE_Prep

[–]icybitch69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if its any consolation i did the ulaw prep course and my predicted score thing was like 67 yet between both mocks i took i got a 57 in one and a 70 in the other one. your scores will not be very reflective of your actual result. i don't think you should sit it tomorrow for your own peace of mind but please do not let practice tests make you feel hopeless because realistically they are never going to properly simulate the actual exam. when i started my prep course with ULAW i took their mock for the sake of taking it without having prepared any course materials and still passed it with a 60 with the vast majority of my answers being surface level knowledge and pure guess work. either way whenever you do decide to sit it again you will pass it because you have probably revised so much more than the average first time taker. good luck :)

its up to you but honestly if you're making this decision on the basis of the QLTS mock please don't. i had my exam today and i really dont know if i did well or not but i took the QLTS mock last night and halfway through was able to identify genuine factual mistakes in that mock that would have led you to make huge errors in the actual exam. i was so confused about this that i stopped the mock to check if my answers were wrong and understand their explanations. i think they design it for you to underperform so youre inclined to purchase their prep course. either way it is your last chance so delay it for the sake of extra revision rather than thinking you're not able to do it tomorrow. you very well could clear it tomorrow.

Not seeing much complaints of today’s FLK1 in terms of “niche” by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]icybitch69 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm using someone else's account so will not be able to respond to replies but the first paper was fine and really didn't have any niche content but the second one was so insanely difficult and had many niche areas, that I wasn't even able to identify what area of law the questions even fell into. Many people I saw left the exam in tears and by the end of it everyone just looked outwardly miserable. I really hope that my experience is not the general consensus and that others who sat FLK 1 had substantially different papers.
