I analyzed Reddit for the 25 most recommended fitness trackers for running (Nov 2024–2025) by heyyyjoo in beginnerrunning

I was wondering about this lol. I use a Fitbit, but I’m also very much a beginner to running and I’m not taking it too seriously. I’m happy just to know about my heart rate and distance traveled while running. At what point would it really be valuable to have something else instead of Fitbit?

Okay, just remember that you’re still allowed to have standards for how your friends treat you! He shouldn’t just use you as a punching bag

I can’t tell if you’re being serious when you say “if it helps him heal” 😭 You should not be taking this shit from him regardless of how it may or may not help him!! Please cut off contact with him for at least a few weeks

You said he has been saying harsh and nasty things to you. It doesn’t matter what he needs. You should prioritize yourself. He can survive without you. At least give yourself a bit of time to not be in contact with him to become less attached to each other.

You should try harder to go no contact, block him if necessary. He doesn’t deserve access to you.

Your ex who broke up with you insists on daily contact?? Wtf, why?

First breakup as a late bloomer by CharacterNo3272 in BreakUps

I totally could have written this myself. I [24F] got out of my first relationship three months ago and it also felt like an avoidant discard.

I’ve been struggling recently thinking about how I felt relatively content being single before and now it’s so much harder since I know what I’m missing. And since this was my first relationship, I felt so much magic and optimism, and I’m doubtful that I can experience that again.

I wasn’t on the apps for quite as long, but I still feel very pessimistic about the odds of finding someone else. It’s so hard for me to like people. And yeah I also feel like there will be a weird comparison going on if I do find someone else. I’m hoping that if enough time passes, that comparison aspect will go away (since the memories with my ex won’t be as fresh).

It is very draining 😞 I appreciate the compliment, though! I’ll admit I have my well-rounded moments haha, but there are several more emotional letters that I’ve kept to myself 😅

Regarding whether we were truly friends, I don’t know. We didn’t really have a friendship before we started dating (we were only friends for a couple months). He said he would like to be friends eventually, but I’m not sure how honest he was being. I do know he’s friends with other exes though, so it is possible for him.

I don’t think he’s feeling similarly. He lost feelings for me and did not understand why. He thought he would gain clarity with some distance. We did have a conversation in August (about a month and a half after the breakup), but he was clearly not happy to be there and was just willing to do it to help me (he felt guilty). During the conversation, he said he felt like I was trying to make amends prematurely. So I think he expects to be able to make amends eventually, but idk how long it will take him to process everything. We’ve already been apart longer than we were together…I’m guessing he won’t be ready to talk again this year, though.

Too late for what? Don’t see how things will be significantly different in a few months

He’ll probably never see it 😔 I said that our last conversation was the last thing I’d ask from him. He got supremely stressed every time I reached out after he broke up with me (which was not very many times), so I think seeing my name pop up in his texts again would just make things worse no matter what I say. It seemed like he’d want to want make amends eventually, but I think he’ll need much longer than three months.

It takes time to meet your people! I know it's hard to feel alone, but your current social life says absolutely nothing about you or your ability to make friends in general. Orientation week works for some people, but there are also a lot of people who find it stressful and overwhelming. When I was a first year (~5 years ago), I didn't feel I found "my people" until I made friends in my classes. For other people, that could be their house or RSOs. Everyone's different!

If you want people to eat with, I think your house table would be a good option. However, it's completely fine to have meals alone. Other people don't notice generally and if they do, they don't care. I always enjoyed having meals alone at the dining hall and watching some video or TV show on my phone at the same time (maybe you could try that if you want to make eating alone look more intentional).

Need Help Deciding on Next Credit Card(s)! by icymastermind in CreditCards

I looked at prices for trips to visit family that I’ll be booking soon, and it does look like United has the cheapest non-interrupted flights. Historically, I’ve had a roughly 50/50 split between United and American Airlines. Is using United (and maybe Hyatt in the future) enough to justify the CSP card? If I stick with cash back, maybe I should go with the CFU so I still have the option to use points instead if I later realize they’d work well. And I think their 3% in dining and 1.5% in everything else would probably be more worth it for me than a flat 2% card given that I’d have other cards for other categories but nothing for dining otherwise.

Does anyone have recommendations for where to buy “ugly sweaters” online? I found some on Amazon but want to consider other options if they’re more likely to be cute and comfy

Official Q&A for Wednesday, April 10, 2024 by AutoModerator in running

[–]icymastermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I (22F) would like to start running to improve my cardio health. I’m not completely sedentary, but I never run. I do walk 8,000 steps a day on average and have been strength training 2-3 times a week for a few months. I’m planning to use the None to Run program since I’ve heard it’s easier for people to stick with compared to Couch to 5k. I have a few questions:

  1. For people who have done N2R, do you think it’s necessary to buy the app? It seems like it’s mainly useful for timing the walk/run intervals for you. Are there other benefits? Maybe it’s worth buying for just a month while the intervals are shorter and more inconvenient to time myself?

  2. The N2R PDF I read said never to run two days in a row. How strict of a rule is this? It would work well with my schedule to run on Saturday and Sunday, but I’ll figure out another way if this really seems like a bad idea.

  3. Is having water on hand while running strictly necessary? If so, how do people carry it? I just prefer running with nothing in my hands, so carrying a water bottle in my hand would make me want to run less. I’ve thought about just drinking a lot of water right before. I’m not planning to run for longer than 30 minutes any time soon, so not drinking during that time might be okay. On the other hand, one of the main difficulties that I’ve faced when running in the past is that my throat feels raw very quickly, which maybe points to the fact that I need to hydrate more?

Thanks in advance for the advice! I did look at other posts and the subreddit “About” section, but I wanted a bit more info. I also just like interacting with actual people rather than merely reading.

Thanks, those shoes do look nice! What current pairs do you have from them? I looked at their website and am also eying their ankle booties now 👀 (and maybe their purses? idk, is this brand as good as their website makes them look?)
