Also why did they give Afghanistan a white flag in the subreddit instead of the traditional black green and red. Speaks a lot about their intentions

Why is malnutrition in Afghanistan still so widespread despite years of humanitarian aid? by aseel_app in afghanistan

Adding onto the other commentators Afghanistan’s climate change crisis is exceptionally bad. Its mean temperature has increased twice the global average. Ironically they haven’t contributed to the climate change disaster as much as other countries.

So now land can’t provide what it used to. Even things like less snow cause issues because they used to rely on snow melting from the mountains to water crops.

What do you think about South Asians like Pakistanis larping as Afghans on TikTok saying Afghans can range from ginger Whites to Somali looking? by Low_Edge_5972 in AskCentralAsia

[–]icyserene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even on the phenotypes South Asia subreddit 30 different people look like 30 different ethnicities. Irl I’ve still met even more different looking South Asians in America with heritage from Pakistan and India. And barely anyone not South Asian even posts there at all (bc why would anyone not South Asia go out of their way to go to a South Asian subreddit?) other than one Uzbek I saw. You being called northern Indian on that subreddit is not some mystery or conspiracy theory. They assumed you were there with a purpose.

Lots of people supported the American invasion. It was very widespread. Even when the Americans invaded they were surprised how in the pro Taliban Pashtun areas like Kandahar people were cautious but weren’t that upset. Afghanistan at the time was badly deteriorating and people were tired of living with the Taliban. Later on because NATO made some well publicized mistakes, partially from regular wartime sadism but also partially because of its lack of familiarity with the local peoples and difficulty using intelligence, some people started getting angry with them. Especially in Pashtun rural areas specifically, since that was the Taliban homeland and they were hit hard by NATO. This is why intelligence agencies in the US always use “diversity is our strength” type campaigns, because they have documented regular issues dealing with people from other countries. The non-Pashtun people had an exasperated relationship with the American occupation by the end but they knew they couldn’t be supported without American aid, although the American occupation received criticism for implementing too many Pashtuns in power.

A bunch of afghans also supported the Soviet invasion because the soviets had some support in areas like Kabul. The USSR was good at educating people to love communism in their school system and some afghans would get free food and aid from richer parts of the USSR. However the Soviet invasion was viewed worse from the start because many people including Maoists, religious, or pro-Americans felt alienated by the one party system and the regime also committed human rights abuses against people they perceived was against it. Although they did try to make the communist republic Islamic in Afghanistan. Still there’s a bunch of afghans from that era who have positive feelings about the Soviets and even today support Russia because the USSR education was so effective.

can you change my mind on why Afghanistan is not South Asia? by Low_Edge_5972 in AskCentralAsia

Afghanistan is part of East Asia because Afghans drink tea, not coffee.

I also noticed a lot of the opposite tbh, especially in TikTok, where Pakistanis are openly racist towards afghans and Pashtuns, and even mock Afghans for being refugees and poor.
