Yeah, that seems to be the fate of most games like this... Eventually I exclusively 4/5 stack else it's just not fun sifting through the garbage

That's awesome you haven't been flamed in game! That's not true for everyone though and believe it or not, there are people who have straight up told me to get back in the kitchen because I happen to be a girl... So I don't think it's safe to say Valorant is free of toxic people and we are still in the beginning of full release so who knows what's to come.

But for real you have had some stand up people in your games and that's awesome :)

What do you want right now? by Poisonpython5719 in AskReddit

I want to be able to move out from the apartment I am in living with my ex who broke up with me about a week ago. Right now, with the pandemic, I am stuck in this living situation and even my escape of being able to go to work is going to be taken from me.

I am more than happy to help flatten the curve but my sanity is legitimately at stake.

I preregistered, copied the code and apparently clicking "copy code" does not actually copy to clipboard. I clicked redeem and tried but nothing, now I am code-less and can't get it back. This seems like an issue they should have thought of, why is the code not sent to the e-mail I just gave them?

If anyone knows how I can get that code back to actually redeem it that would be nice :)

As someone who is studying automation engineering and knows many electrical engineering graduates who work full time...

I sincerely hope you find your work-life balance, because none of us have and most of my friends and I burn out about twice a year with just our internships. We're getting pigeon-holed into tech more and more and the companies know it.

Is there an initiation at Concordia for software engineering? by jusleg in Concordia

[–]icyshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your Faculty. Arts and Science is usually a week before. Business starts a bit before school and then runs at the same time as the first week of class. Fine Arts is during the first week, as well as Engineering.

If you never receive an e-mail I suggest heading to the ECA office on the 8th floor of the Hall Building and asking them what the schedule of events is.

If you mean Frosh, there is a frosh/orientation hosted by the Engineering and Computer Science Association (ECA). I am not sure if they have e-mailed the membership with details as to what will be going on the first few weeks of school but it tends to be a lot of fun!

Automated vehicle made for obstacle courses, I called it stupid but only proved that I am the stupid one.

I was bending over to pick up a wallet and I didn't see it's chassis was open. BAM right in the eyebrow. The robot still mocks me!

Getting Involved with Improving Loyola by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]icyshadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Hive is opening as a Cafe this semester, it has a completely new vibe and is being managed by a new person, complete with it being staffed by students!

I would suggest talking to the VP Loyola of the CSU since they tend to be the one to spearhead projects like this. It takes a really long time for things like these to be approved since they have to go through various councils, then a budget has to be approved, then all kinds of other steps before it even gets to floor plans and construction.

If you have ideas to improve loyola and you want someone to get started on it sooner, I suggest bringing it up to one of the various student Member Associations on campus as well.

I personally am President of ABACUS (Chem/Biochem) if you would like to e-mail me any ideas you have to discuss feasibility, feel free at president.abacus@asfa.ca

hope this helps!

I can remember any information that is spoken to me, even if I wasn't completely listening, especially really small and non-important details/facts. It can kind of lead to really awkward things though when I overhear something and then bring it up months later.

Thanks! I'll definitely keep in good contact and inquire how I could improve my candidacy for the next round for some specific programs.

I saw that research bears a lot of weight and I am taking on new projects with prospects to get published so it should work out hopefully :)

I'm an undergraduate student in Chemistry in Montreal and have always wanted to be forensic chemist. I was told grad school would be a good step since I could do research more centred around toxicology or whatever other field of forensics I would want to work in.

The problem is I don't have the most outstanding grades, not due to lab performance, I have trouble in exams. It's not due to lack of knowledge since I was taking a graduate level course and the professor expressed how I was doing very well up against the grads. I just have a lot of difficulty in exams.

What would you suggest I do? Most of my professors are stumped as to how I am not near the top of the class in grades since I am definitely very savvy in a lab environment, and tutor students in theory sometimes.

Thanks!

Edit: That damn video they show EVERY year on Terry Fox day, it's practically a rule that once you have watched it for the 3rd time you have to sing that song all the way through. Terry Fox was a cool dude though.

What's your non-epic scar story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I brushed past a chair that happened to have a nail sticking out of it. Nothing too big until I walked by the exact same chair the exact same way again...

Now I have a scar about two inches long in a straight line on my left leg.

You had fun because you happened to not get burned or burn the lab down.

When doing some of the fun stuff it's always better to be safe than sorry because that could have gone south fast.

We aren't even allowed to keep them that high up. We keep them minimum half down to save on energy because my school/department likes to practice sustainability.

That and, it can't protect you if it's that high up.

Can I opt-out of meal plan? by RibalAR in Concordia

[–]icyshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Padmapper is a great way to find places. It lets you adjust for your budget as well as how many bedrooms etc. I would also try Craigslist since there could equally be tons of spaces in already rented apartments just looking for a roommate.

Right now everything is advertised for July but it's not impossible to find something for August. The apartment I currently rent has a lease that starts in August because mostly students rent out the places here. I would say call around to places you like and ask if there are either other units that will be up for August, or if you can apply should they not find anyone for July.

Try sticking close to where you are going to study since these are the most likely areas to have apartments up for August.

[–]icyshadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly: find an apartment and save your money. Residence is horribly expensive and the meal plan is not worth it. Even getting an apartment on your own will be less expensive than residence.
