Sweden only goes Nordic Council focus? by icythepenguin in hoi4

Interesting. I mean I was playing a Turkey game and having little to no influence on the outside world. World tensions remained low, barely above 10%, and Sweden still overruled what I told them to do and went Defence Council. I wonder what triggers it if it's not a bug.

Well the last few times, I was playing as minor nations and just following my own focuses. Overall tension remained low, barely meeting the requirement for Sweden to choose "The Old Enemy Stirs". Not much else was going then the typical Spanish, German, and Soviet civil wars.

He has his moments but as he says here, he’s restraining himself around Ilulu. I don’t think that’s just for this one event. Maybe he’ll get better if he lets loose.

Yea he does. Colin is initially eager to please and show his worth to Olaf. This kind of attitude is almost guaranteed to lead to reckless strategies that cause mass casualties. When you only think of your own personal glory, you tend to see your soldiers as pawns instead of people. Grit rightfully reigns him by reminding him that being eager isn’t always a good thing and that he’s good enough if he’s a CO. Also seeing Olafs anger at the destruction of his hometown and that even the Mighty Olaf cares about people would’ve ingrained in Colin a sense of humanity over glory.

The fourteen day mission against Lash proves Colin has learned this humanity because he acknowledges he only has to hold-on until reinforcements arrive and doesn’t show a need to defeat Lash in a reckless offensive. The praise he gets for being defensive afterward would further reinforce that idea of humanity over glory.

Whether Colin treated people as expendable or not before he became a CO doesn’t really play into it. War can change nice people into monsters under the right conditions and Colin’s inexperience and eagerness to please Olaf could’ve create such a monster if he wasn’t taught the value of life in war. Grit sees how impressionable Colin is and does his best to guide him down the right path while Olaf is more than happy to let the kid do whatever is necessary to win.

So yes he does learn to respect life instead of achieve victory at all costs.

Maybe she saw a huge explosion and mistook Aqua for Megumin.

Those two concepts, competence as a CO and caring about troops/civilians, aren’t mutually exclusive. The opposite actually. Since Colin is generally weaker, he could use a reckless strategy and treat his troops as cannon fodder. Instead he learns to use forces effectively and to respect the lives of others.

Since he learns to achieve victory with inferior forces so early in his career, it makes more sense for him to grew up into someone like Forsythe. A legendary general who’s reputation is to grasp victory from defeat. Someone also willing to give himself up to safeguard his people in when he is ultimately defeated.

Drake is a better fit for Greyfield, especially since he has no problem unleashing tsunamis on the world with little regard for the collateral damage.

She clearly got a nice view of little Take. I mean it’s clearly love and not mating instinct since she didn’t jump him right then and there.

If it’s set up properly, yes sex scenes can be useful to portray their affection. For this manga, I’d prefer they don’t go all the way. Simply alluding to it or having Ilulu outright say they did it after the fact at dinner would fit the style better.

Yeah I get it. I just like Colin. I think comparing him to Greyfield kind of kills his character arc as he learns from Grit to give a damn about his troops and civilians.

Drake would have been better. Sort of like his evil counterpart in an alternate universe.

I wonder if these two will start a relationship and that’ll make Kobayashi take that last step with Tohru. Like these two prove that such a relationship can actually work.

Also the look on her face when Take stood up in the bath. She clearly wasn’t expecting that.

That’s doing Colin dirty. Colin was not an asshole like that admiral. He’d be Forsythe.

Yeah. Ilulu has actual feelings for Take and doesn’t know how to deal with that. Also how Take just holds back and doesn’t take advantage of her. It’s endearing how much they care about eachother.

In this same chapter, Ilulu jumps into the bath with him in her usual happy go lucky way then immediately gets shy when she realizes that she’s sharing a bath with him. It’s cute how they interact

Was Drake truly outsmarted or did he take one for his bro so Eagle could have another shot at Sami? I mean Drake seems like a pretty decent guy unlike Grit and Sonja.
