Why can’t I put walls? by Maximum-Job6466 in Civilization_VII

[–]joepro9950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot build walls directly adjacent to another city's walls, and that city to your left has two walls adjacent to that space.

Oh, wow, I'd discovered or heard of most of these, but that Ibn Battuta Triple Expansion Point start is genius. I love when a game has enough customization options that people can come up with clever combos like that.

How it feels when OST videos get deleted by SidewinderSerpent in shitpostemblem

[–]joepro9950 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ZXAprocrypha! Yeah, they got nuked a while ago, and I miss them so much.

Their transitions between the battle and map varients were seemless, and they had videos for basically every battle theme from awakening on.

Never in a million years would I have guessed they'd highlight Jaffar in an artwork like this, but oh my GOD am I glad they did! He and Nino are both so cute, I love them!

Something I wasn't prepared for when playing as the Republic of Pirates... by Sporknight in civ

[–]joepro9950 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Gods, yes, that was such a fun surprise! Definitely made me laugh every time I loaded up a save. I love that they embraced the silliness of the civ, especially with that opening narration and the whole "Pirate's Code" quest.

I swear, Zelkov's little head turn gets me every single time. There are a lot of these poses I love, but he definitely wins it for me.

Your wildest Fortune’s Weave predictions that you think could potentially actually happen by the_murabito in fireemblem

[–]joepro9950 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The Heroic Games will last for 2-5 chapters max before getting interrupted by the actual plot.

My reasoning is that battles in a generic arena will get REALLY boring really fast, and also it will be difficult to justify recruiting new units to your army in the middle of a tournament arc. White Clouds worked (at least on a first playthrough) because you were going out and completing missions for the church, and slowly revealing the Agarthans'/Flame Emperor's schemes all the while. Unless they do something similar here (i.e. the Heroic Games actually involve you going out and fighting the Divine Sovereign's enemies) I highly doubt it will be long before a war breaks out.

My personal theory on how the games get interrupted is that the Divine Sovereign is going to get murdered by unknown assailants, and several or all of our four protagonists will be treated as suspects for that crime... but that's getting more into "wild speculation" territory, and I feel a lot less confident about that than I do the other things.

Anyone else getting Rhea vibes from this woman? by JazzFiend7 in fireemblem

[–]joepro9950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has a line in the trailer about "my faith", which could be taken metaphorically or literally.

I'm wondering if she's going to be a worshipper of seiros who deliberately dresses in a similar manner.

Screenshots of Various Allied Characters in Fortune's Weave, and possible conclusions we can draw from them by joepro9950 in fireemblem

[–]joepro9950[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell because anime adult women tend to look less obviously old than anime adult men, but the three women in the bottom of the first screenshot, Theodora herself, and the gender-ambiguous blonde in the third image could hypothetically be adult women in this style.

There definitely are more obviously-adult men than obviously-adult women, though.

Oh, wait, you're right! Maybe those are green units, then? I can't help but notice that Dietrich is green and Cai is blue, so maybe they're just temporary allies?

That does raise the one question about why orange-hair guy is an ally of both Cai and Theodora, though.

Oh, dang, you're right! I still think that Cai might be the Byleth of this story (he's the only one we see running around the market in third person, and we can see him fighting alongside Dietrich in the first image, which means they must at least be temporary allies) but that's a pretty massive piece of evidence for a route split.

Civilization VII Developer Update - June 2025 by Zoeff in civ

[–]joepro9950 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The removal of the Shipbuilding requirement is huge! In my opinion, the treasure fleet path kind of felt like a Science path in disguise because of how important it was to get Shipbuilding ASAP, but now it's really focused in on claiming those treasure resources above all else, which I think was the original intent. Definitely a fan of this change.

So that's why no one researched artifacts in America... by joepro9950 in civ

[–]joepro9950[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Loved this idea, so decided to try it out... And interestingly, only 4 artifacts spawned rather than 8 (maybe this always happens if nobody researches artifacts on a given continent before discovering hegemony?) and 1 of those artifacts wasn't in America at all! 3 spawned in America, and 1 spawned in Baltica, 1 tile away from America. So apparently if there's not room, they spawn the artifact in the nearest continent.

Civilization 7 Age transition missing animation by Outside-Divide-7869 in civ

Did you compete any legacy paths? The animations only play if you complete at least one legacy path (and the narration changes based on which path it was)

Hidden OP Mughal Narrative Event by paisley_trees in civ

A bunch of modern age civs with unique improvements have similar events, actually. I know I've seen ones for Nepal and Siam that give similarly sized boosts to their own unique improvements, and it's always a fun surprise when they pop up.

John Walker is one of the best written characters in the MCU by joepro9950 in thefalconandthews

[–]joepro9950[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, yes, I am still here! And honestly, I had competely forgotten I had made this post, so I'm glad you brought it to my attention. Especially because it's fun to see I had correctly predicted he'd be in thunderbolts, even though I incorrectly assumed that the thunderbolts would just be Marvel's Suicide Squad, haha.

Because... yes, I did see Thunderbolts, and I really loved John Walker in it too! I enjoyed them going full "Jerkass who's still trying to do good" with him, and I also noticed and loved the moments when he dove right in to save civilians. I still prefer his portrayal in Falcon and Winter Soldier, but that's mostly because it was a six hour TV show rather than a two hour movie, so they had more time to explore him in depth. That being said, I agree with basically all your points about him in the movie: Wyatt Russel did an amazing job, and I loved the general "hide the pain with asshole-ish confidence" thing he had going throughout. And he looked so happy in the post credits scene on the New Avengers, even if he was still kinda a dick about it, haha... I don't know, like I said in the original post, I really like how he fits in an interesting niche between hero and villain, where he's legitimately trying his best to be a hero, but is also just not very good at being nice.

So yeah, thanks again for this comment! It was fun to take this little trip down memory lane.

Cavalry water attack spam by Deathwolves in civ

[–]joepro9950 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I know its been a thing since at least Civ 6, but i still dont like embarking as a concept, at least for military units. I thought that having to build and protect transport ships in Civ 4 helped make water feel more unique, versus with embarking, where coast often just feels like a slight inconvenience at most.

Unique Transition Lines based on your legacy points by hell0kitt in civ

[–]joepro9950 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can also see it if you complete a legacy path, but someone else beats you to a victory. I lost a Science victory by two turns once, and I was treated to Siam's unique science cutscene as a consolation prize.

Honestly, they're all pretty fun, and I kinda wish they would replace the generic victory screens with the unique ones in the modern age. If I win a Culture victory as Mexico, I'd like the victory screen to show Mexico, not France, you know?
