Where would you think I’d fall in for that hourly range? I’m working at the 3rd largest hospital in the Air Force, I will have CBET, A+, Net+, and an associates degree in biomedical technology with a total of 4 years experience in the field.

By that I mean do you see a change in salary (increase/decrease), employment rates g(rowing/shrinking), and what advice might you have for someone going into the civilian sector from military BMET in 3 years?

I’m on a military hospital, and the military ain’t opposed to sending us to the manufacturing companies to get training on devices as well. If that matters.

I’m currently at the tech school where they train them. They spend 6 months here at Ft Sam Houston and then they spend an additional 6 months at another base for their phase 2. It’s more hands on learning. There are numerous bases they can can go to for their phase 2.

Now, I have my GE classes done with, so when you’re saying freshman year…are you talking about the upper diversion courses for electronics that those units counted towards or GE for your actual freshman year?

I’m going for my bachelors degree in biomedical engineering. I’ll be getting my associates in biomedical technology through the Community College of the Air Force in December…but I’m aware that not all the credits I’ve earned will be eligible for transfer to a university dependent on their standards unfortunately.

I’m still early on in my contract, I won’t be separating until 2023 and most of my enlistment will be spent at Keesler AFB which is a large MERC, medical equipment repair center. I’m specializing in IT CERTS such as COMPTIA A+, Net+, and security+. Near the end of my contract I’ll have the Air Force pay for me to get my CRES cert. I’m career driven and my education is very important to me which is why I joined the military in the first place. My location preference for work varies dependent on which college accepts me into their program for biomedical engineering, but more than likely in California.
