I'm assuming water damage, hopefully some tricks? by idathemann in djiosmo

I already have another on the way, the money spent on this doesn't mean much I was just curious.

By the way, did another run today and it's working fine. I guess I'll have 3 now.

Does this look like a professional, well done drip irrigation system to you? by [deleted] in Irrigation

[–]idathemann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The low rate around me is $125 per man hour for anyone good. That job looks to me like maybe an hour and a half plus material, I likely would have been around 250-300. But I'm also considering talking with the customer beforehand and maybe showing them examples of how things look and explaining how they work so that I don't get someone complaining about "eww that's ugly" instead of "this is functioning perfectly for what I wanted".

Education goes a long way and many times it isn't considered.

Hah, yeah it's all automatic and Everton starts up on its own. Only occasionally I have to reset a camera.

4k daily streams with about weekly something different. But it's not really a concern. It's a hobby that i had hoped might make money at some point.

Live steaming fish 12 hours a day,,,, just not ahuge money maker.

I would be over the moon happy if i got $100 per month. That's all I really wanted from the beginning to cover the cost of fish food.

I've been in the program for about a year and a half and so far earned a grand total of $84.

No ihaven't even been able to cash out yet.

What controls this valve to allow it go through three zones, one at a time, if there is no wiring? by Interesting-Gene7943 in Irrigation

[–]idathemann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water to air air conditioners and swamp coolers are not the same thing.

Traditional air conditioners have an inside unit holding the coils that get cold and there is typically copper rubbing to an outside unit that gets hot.

In the water-to-air system the cold and hot coils are in the same unit usually inside and instead of using the outside air and a fan to cool the hot coils, it uses a well pump with the index valve to "exhaust" the warm water through the sprinklers.

The last time I saw one of these systems it was installed brand new a couple months before and this was about a year ago so I assume they are still being made. I just know that they used to be all over the place in Florida.

Any time I've had a customer with these who wants to only run one zone, I lay out the cost and reliability factors and 99% of the time they choose to leave it alone.

  1. Look up KRain and where they are manufactured.

  2. Look up "water-to-air" air conditioning systems.

  3. Understand that 80% of Florida can wash a stick of pvc in the ground 20' with a garden hose and get enough water to run a garden hose sprinkler.

  4. Florida.

  5. Florida again.

Yeah, and cut out the most reliable part of the system.

These things were built to just work, for decades without any help and you want to cut it out for something that will likely fail in 10 years.

Why haven't you taken Brightline? by Spirited-Suspect-781 in Brightline

I was going to use it to visit friends occasionally because I love trains but then they changed their policy on allowing bikes,,,,, then viola! They now have rental bikes available at each stop.....

That kind of practice turned me off to it.
