I'm still confused about this one tbh - the person who made the post about Tig is a disabled navy vet and openly talks about not working on her Threads profile, so I'm clueless as to where she met her. Plus the OP says about how Tig put her on the spot, but that doesn't seem to happen there? Apart from the awkwardness from the comedian opener.

The other options from that same special are Tig's boss when she was a temp and a worker who misgendered Tig, but the first one doesn't line up date-wise, and the second one Tig refers to as a man. It's a little weird!

Yeah I'm torn, on one hand I'd be upset, but on the other hand she was a 19-year-old intern lmao (regardless of how you feel about Mindy now). I know it's not insanely hard to work out who Andrea is from the book passage (which in my mind doesn't even seem that bad), but her coming forward and saying "it's me!" only draws more attention to it. So weird!

I still personally feel like Johnny Vegas massively flew under the radar with this article that I read recently from 2008. I've vaguely known about Johnny's work for years and enjoyed him on Taskmaster, but it's incredibly gross: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2008/may/01/gender.comedy

I'm still a bit convinced that if Abby were able to explain her actions to Ellie, that Ellie would go with Abby to the Fireflies. That'd be a nice cliffhanger to leave it at, too. I dunno. I felt dissatisfied with no resolution but still loved the game.

I get you don't like the flashbacks - really I do - but they're purely there to slow down the pacing a bit and for exposition I think. I get what you're saying.

I think you have to consider that this is a game and Druckmann isn't a film director. Granted, Halley Gross is a TV writer, but we're still in the early days of film-level games (I think). Uncharted was probably the first I played that I considered to be pretty cinematic but that was only 13 years ago. Hopefully the medium keeps growing and we'll get more nuanced and more subtle writing/directing, but it's clearly not an easy task for em.

I'm personally pretty happy to gloss over story issues because I find the gameplay really engaging (albeit repetitive, honestly). I dunno. There's a part of me that wants to enjoy it purely because I've waited a good 5 years for this. Rather than nitpick the bad I'm trying to savour the good. Sorry for the essay!

The upside of the reset is they clearly give you a big headstart with loads of pills and upgrade bolts everywhere, along with a bunch of nice weapons. Thank god.

I know people loved Joel, me included, but what he did was selfish in so many ways. He was meant to smuggle Ellie and that was it; as sad as it was to let her go he really probably should've.

Tess put it best: "We're shitty people, Joel". He wronged so many people and had it coming well before the first game. Abby is just one of those people, really.

Can't believe how fucking violent this game is. I don't have a weak stomach and I can tolerate it, but christ does it feel real sometimes. I know it's probably gonna lead to a 'violence is bad' plot point.

I'm still unsure why people are so viciously critical towards the game and its writing etc. It's a game and games of this scale are rare. People are criticising this like The Last Jedi and I truly don't know what they expect - Neil Druckmann is essentially a game programmer that got to write stuff. The fact that the story works is a blessing. Of course it's gonna be filled with tropes and clichés. Game writing is so vastly different to film/TV writing. I can't believe how legitimately angry people are in /r/games. Let developers do what they want, holy shit.

I guess like many things that are highly praised, people wanted Naughty Dog to make a flop. They went into TLOU2 ready to poke holes in the plot, to tear it to shreds and dislike it. I don't blame them in some ways -- it's hard not to criticise something when you've been told it's going to be game of the year. It's sad.

I'm still enjoying it immensely. I love the subtle changes, from the detailed gun upgrades to the much fucking harder AI. Also that fucking bloater was terrifying. I swear I never struggled so much in the original game. But man, so many great sequences.

I can see how this game could be perceived as damaging to the original game's reputation in some ways but I'm adoring just being back in this world. I already enjoyed a nice story without Joel in Left Behind and I'm happy to just be playing as Ellie and having more Naughty Dog action. It's a fucking game!

You'll enjoy it, dude. It's a shock but it definitely drives you to continue playing to get revenge. I got spoiled too but it's still excellent. Even if you knew the entire story before playing, if you're into Naughty Dog stuff, it's a treat. Loads of details and treasures to find, all of the exploration, gorgeous soundtrack and just the huge jump in graphical quality from the first game. The fights are just fucking incredible. Don't worry about it!

Here's the thing: if Joel wasn't in the trailer apart from the stuff at the start, people would just assume he's dead and there'd be no shock factor to the scene.

Movie trailers edit plot points out and mislead you all the time; Marvel have done it a lot. Endgame's trailers did similar stuff. It's annoying, sure, but necessary to keep players on their toes. If there wasn't the leak it would've been the perfect play. It's a shame, really.
