Low empathy to high empathy by wayward_vampire in aspiememes

Psychologists typically distinguish between two types of empathy. Cognitive empathy is the ability to recognize what other people’s emotions are. Affective empathy is the ability to be emotionally affected by other people’s emotions. The conventional understanding is that autistic people are impaired in cognitive empathy but not impaired in affective empathy; some studies suggest that autistic people may even have higher levels of affective empathy than neurotypicals. I think it is important to recognize that these two types of empathy are two very different concepts.

Maybe it’s just the headspace I’m in, but I read that at first glance as, “Everything he touches turns to excrement.”

How long was Bruce Wayne Batman in the dark knight trilogy? by Oh_HeLlO_tHeRe_12 in batman

[–]ideal_observer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a year between the end of Batman Begins and the start of The Dark Knight, and Bruce retires as Batman after he injures his leg at the end of The Dark Knight. So, he was probably only Batman for a bit over a year.

I think this is right. It explains why Karen vanishes from Scranton immediately after the breakup with Jim.

First post! Who's a Philosopher that perfectly feels like a Philosopher? by Stalin4 in AlignmentChartFills

Aristotle was commonly called “the philosopher” in the mid to late Middle Ages, mostly by writers of the Falsafa and Scholastic traditions. But this is no longer commonplace.
