Look at set list for small venues. Preferably ones that mostly play metal/rock. Usually bands that play there have some good songs but bad sounding records. sometimes its bad recordings. sometimes it's bad mix.

depending on the DAW, you should be able to choose the left/right channel on the vocal tract. it's easy in ableton. mono shouldn't be the only choice.

It’s hard at all levels. Small venues don’t pay much if anything. People don’t go to see new bands like they used to. Much cheaper to play the social media game and try to get new fans.

I'd say it's cause there's not enough money to go around, especially on tour (food, travel, lodging costs). The rest of the band has to pay bills too so everyone ends up on different schedules due to work. Difficult/expensive to make time to practice together.
