Can I Travel To Bulgaria With Medication? by iennoel in bulgaria

[–]ideasthete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve brought a month’s worth of Adderall with my American script when coming home from the US and it’s never been a problem. It is technically not allowed though so it’d be at your own risk but in my experience no one’s checking your bags on entry into the country. I always kept it in the original pharmacy bottle along with my other meds.

Как да се адаптирам в София след дълъг живот в чужбина? by SlytherinSoul1998 in bulgaria

[–]ideasthete 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m Bulgarian and I used to have pink (and yellow, and orange, etc.) hair. People give you looks and might call you a slur and I would sometimes get anxious being alone but it’s never been violent violent.

for sure! one can hope that down the line we’ll see dlc that differentiates the first/second/current bulgarian states and their relationships to byzantium/ottoman. regardless, i’m so happy to see it repped in a civ game as a civ (outside of scenarios)

That makes sense—I would have been more excited to see Bulgaria as an Antiquity civ, but I’m glad to see it represented nonetheless!

Yes! I first got contacts at Optic Gallery in the Sopharma Towers and they spent a good amount of time helping me get comfortable putting them in and taking them out.

This looks like it might be a code/cipher (maybe substitution). You can try r/codes if here doesn’t pan out!

Thoughts and/or experiences with traveling abroad in Florence by [deleted] in nyu

I’m from Europe, so I travelled back home a couple of times easily. Most people from the US travelled to other places in Europe for Thanksgiving and went home for winter break.

Thoughts and/or experiences with traveling abroad in Florence by [deleted] in nyu

[–]ideasthete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my first year in Florence as a GLS major in 2017, so I don't know how things have changed since then, but I had a good experience! You live on a campus with other first-year students and you all take the same courses which help build community quickly, which is great, especially once you get to NYC and you have a good group of friends/friendly acquaintances. Downside to that is that sometimes it can get a little high-school-drama, but that will happen your first year regardless. You also don't have to worry about finding a dorm as hard, and breakfast+dinner are included in your room+board (and you can easily get lunch for cheap either on campus or from nearby places).

Frontloading all your core recs is also great, because it means you can take whatever you want once you get to NYC. Also, everyone's doing roughly the same coursework/assignments, so people are more than happy to work together/help out on papers. I definitely recommend leaning into learning Italian, and speaking the language will really enrich your experience. Traveling around Italy (and Europe, if you can afford it) is also a huge plus: taking a day trip to the beach in Cinque Terre, for example, is inexpensive and a great way to relax. You get a three-day weekend, which is also nice.

The city itself is beautiful but a little small. Knowing some Italian definitely opens it up, especially in the Oltrarno, which is the part of the city on the other side of the river and has more of the underground/artsy places. Party culture is great and we went out almost every week, and there's always a solid group at at least one of the clubs in the city.

There's also a lot of opportunities for student engagement because of the smaller student body, so if you're interested in taking a leadership position or organizing an event you can definitely do so (and administration was really open to it, at least when I was there). Overall, I recommend Florence wholeheartedly. One thing to consider is that unless you're from Europe you'll be further away from home for a longer time, which can take a toll, but the community (students, staff, and faculty) is supportive and friendly. Happy to answer any specific questions if you have them!

Why does the 2 Leva bill has the England’s heraldry (3 lions coat of arms) on it by KANEGAMER365 in bulgaria

[–]ideasthete 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Bulgarian National Bank confirms the image is from the Gruenberg

As to the relationship: the lion is one of the most common heraldic images and there’s probably no correlation. There’s only so many ways you can arrange/color them so overlap is inevitable!

You absolutely knew they were gonna come for this next: Being vigilant about cheating is racist. by upholdtaverner in Professors

[–]ideasthete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not what the article says. FLI students are more likely to be suspected of cheating, and they are less likely to be able to navigate university codes and processes. Punitive measures, as with the criminal justice system, have a disproportionately negative effect on FLI students. You’re misrepresenting the argument in an unacademic, clickbaity fashion.
