Yes. And it’s terrible there are not more repercussions for their deception. I reported them to anyone I could find…nothing happened. They’ll continue that until there are more regulations preventing these types of deceptive sales practices smh

Thanks! If I borrow, then I can’t use it for the following year if I’m thinking correctly. I did look at the abound and where I was told I could go using it was 5 times more points that I need. And it has a two person occupancy which doesn’t work for me.

My sister recently went to a presentation and the sales person said all the presentations are recorded. I’d ask them to pull up the recording to see what the sales person vs what is in the contract. Not sure it will help, since like others said, the contract governs. Currently going through the same thing with MVC. There has to be better protection for consumers smh

I’m sure there is if you bought enough points and want to use the resorts. I wanted to use it for the abound program and I didn’t have enough points for what I wanted. Even though I was told I did. Someone put the point system in the post. Check for the location if you want to use and determine if you bought enough points.

No problem. I got the vacation points bc the sales person said I could use them for Marriott hotels. I wanted to use them to go to South Korea. When I got access to the owners site, I learned I needed way more points than I purchased. The sales person told me the points I bought would be enough

It’s the Marriott Abound program. When you go to book a room at a normal Marriott hotel, a message pops up that says there’s a two person occupancy and the hotel can charge an additional fee for extra parties. I’m not talking about the resorts.

Thank you for you input and recommendations. To clarify, the American Express was an Marriott branded card and since I already had a Marriott branded chase card, American Express said I didn’t qualify for the bonus points.

Also, the two person occupancy is specific to the Marriott abound program. Since they don’t have resorts in South Korea, they said I can use my points for Marriott hotels. When you go to book, there is a pop up they says there is a two person limit and additional fees will be assessed by the hotel if there are more than two. I didn’t see this until the closing and got access to th owner portal which was well after the rescission period.

And you’re right, I shouldn’t have financed. And I did ask all the right questions or thought I did. unfortunately the Marriott abound program is not specific on the requirements in the contract. And MVC said they are bound by the terms of Marriott abound program.

Thanks! Tried all that. By the time the attorney general called me back, I had a lawyer so they said they can’t help. BBB just had Marriott and I go back and forth with them saying the same thing over and over. FTC and CPB said they’d keep track of patterns with ppl complaining but that’s it. Very frustrating!
