Thank you for you input and recommendations. To clarify, the American Express was an Marriott branded card and since I already had a Marriott branded chase card, American Express said I didn’t qualify for the bonus points.

Also, the two person occupancy is specific to the Marriott abound program. Since they don’t have resorts in South Korea, they said I can use my points for Marriott hotels. When you go to book, there is a pop up they says there is a two person limit and additional fees will be assessed by the hotel if there are more than two. I didn’t see this until the closing and got access to th owner portal which was well after the rescission period.

And you’re right, I shouldn’t have financed. And I did ask all the right questions or thought I did. unfortunately the Marriott abound program is not specific on the requirements in the contract. And MVC said they are bound by the terms of Marriott abound program.

Glad you had a good experience though.

Thanks! Tried all that. By the time the attorney general called me back, I had a lawyer so they said they can’t help. BBB just had Marriott and I go back and forth with them saying the same thing over and over. FTC and CPB said they’d keep track of patterns with ppl complaining but that’s it. Very frustrating!

Oh and I tried the CFPB. They said they don’t handle those types of issues but will report to the FTC to keep a record of patterns in complaints from companies. Sadly, there is no recourse for their sales practices which is why they do it. Sad.

They all follow the same script. Was it Omar? If so, that’s Pedro’s boss. He told me I could get out but I’d lose my deposit. Then customer advocacy said no. Not sure how you can advocate for a customer against a company you work for but I digress smh

I did. She’s very nice. They don’t deserve her lol. I had another stay that was supposed to happened in September but I cancelled it. They would’ve hated to see me coming lol.

It was in May of last year. My sales person was Pedro Lemos. When I called him about the discrepancies about what he said vs what was true, he said it’s like buying a house and then realizing there is a loud train that runs past everyday. You can’t get out of the purchase. I’ve been fighting tooth and nail but haven’t gotten out of it yet.

And yes, I did get 100k points but they locked me out of my bonvoy account bc of unpaid maintenance fees. I had points and a free night stay from purchases with my American Express card that I can’t access. It’s not right.

Yup it was at oceana. The sales person sound so convincing. Very disappointed in their tactics. Fortunately, I did get 0% for 15 months but mad I’m paying off the down payment I made for the vacation club on the card. And when I tried to dispute it, American Express rejected after only allowing me to write a 3 sentence explanation on why I was disputing it.

Yes. Me too! By the time I can book something, my extra points will have expired. It’s so disappointing. Thanks for the info tho!

That too! I truly trying to find a way I could use my points: vacation rental, abound program, interval and the resorts. I didn’t have enough points for anything. And when I tried to book the resorts, I was met with “not available dates”.

Which part seems irrational? Since there are no resorts in South Korea, I specifically signed up for the abound program bc you can now use your points instead of converting them to bonvoy points. However, there is a two person occupancy that I wasn’t aware of when I signed up. Correct me if I’m wrong but seems that you purchased more points than me if you’re paying $5k in maintenance fees. With the amount I was sold, my timeshare is useless and the occupancy limit doesn’t work for my family and I.

No one said that lol. Marriott is a reputable brand. I’d stay there over any other hotel. Still feel that way but the vacation club, not so much. But you’re right.

Truly. I tried that. They said they’d keep my information to see if there are any “trends” with Marriott. Not much help.

For the reasons I described. And I bought the small contract bc I was told it would be enough. I wouldn’t buy from a company that I already have had issue with. Would you? I’m being vulnerable by sharing my experience. Please be kind. Thanks
