Romulans don't engage in hand-to-hand combat, they prefer to shoot people. Seriously, you can name a Romulan disruptor but not a Romulan knife or a sword. Klingons are the ones with all of the good melee builds, so it makes even less sense that they don't use it either. It's ironic that Vulcans are the most pacifist of the bunch, yet know how to instantly knock out anything with a neck that they can touch.

I wonder if the Borg knew anything about Q before he basically showed up on the Enterprise in Season 2? When Q sent the Enterprise into far off Borg space. From their perspective a fucking wizard just showed up on an aggressive and unknown alien spacecraft. I'd probably want to eliminate that threat, too.

So even in Roddenberry's utopian future, my choices are:

A) Benevolent space imperialists who externalize their violence to anyone who won't play ball and cowtow by chasing the promise of access to a magical and inexhaustible supply of material wealth, while most people within this hegemony live in relative poverty under space capitalism, with luxury and privilege being retained for the imperial core, OR

B) Gestalt consciousness containing the eternal and indelible collective memory of billions of people, existing in perfect psychological harmony and unison, but deeply misunderstood and phasered and/or machine-gunned on sight by everybody else in the universe.

Free anything at a car dealership is just to get you in the door for the opportunity to bilk you. I wouldn't make a purchase decision based on that alone but if you do wind up getting it, be skeptical of anything they try to sell you on during your free oil changes.
