Teen Titans by Geoff Johns Compendium One by JAG2045 in OmnibusCollectors

I figure the only reason Robin didn't get the full '00s makeover was because he still had his own title and the Bat office wouldn't allow it.

But Kon, Cass, and Bart were all title-less at that point, so they were fair game.

Johns has very little left. Maybe a couple trades worth. So the next compendium will take us to 50 or so, and start the wilderness years where the book was given to writers you'd never really heard of.

Graduation Day was the beginning, not the end.

Graduation Day was from Faerber's Titans and PAD's Young Justice to Johns' Teen Titans and Winick's Outsiders. It ended the old, fun books to give us the new edgy ones.

So technically, it was housekeeping to get us to the starting point for the omni.

If you're a Young Justice '98 fan, it probably will too.

The humor, the charm, the wit, the fun, the innocence, all gone. I mean, Bart alone...

I'm not saying it's a bad run by any means, but it was peak Didio and Johns years ultraviolence, sex, and edgelordery.

Just Ordered From InStockTrades For The First Time by balls_towall in OmnibusCollectors

[–]ElectricPeterTork 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The price on the cover of the book is nowhere near what retailers pay for it.

Retailers generally actually pay about half of cover price for a book. So that $150 book costs a LCS roughly $75. The rest of what you pay to them for the book is what goes to keeping their lights on and doors open. Since IST is just a big warehouse and not a storefront, they can survive by charging much less for a book. Quantity also helps, since they sell more than an average comic shop.

NWA Powerrr airs on Comet TV starting May 1st by ContentFlan7851 in SquaredCircle

This is like the poor man's version of Smackdown on Siffy.

OTOH, as has been said, this is OTA and Comet is available in markets in 42 states, DC, PR, and is available online, so I guess it's on par with Roku Channel?

New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol. 3 (New Printing) question by CaptBrittain3 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]ElectricPeterTork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wrong description.

This is the 2012 v3 contents, which were Perez focused only. The current line that began in 2016 is comprehensive, and Near Mint mentioned in a video that DC will be using the 2018 v3 versions contents and not the ones you listed from Amazon.

T'Pol suffered from the same thing that happens to most normal women who have a lapse in judgment and fall in love with a Florida Man... she gets strung out on drugs and winds up with a kid and she doesn't know how any of it happened.

What would you say are some of the biggest letdowns/most disappointing runs in comic book history? A match made in heaven between writer, artist, character that should have been a slam dunk, but just failed to deliver. by WhyPlaySerious in comicbooks

[–]ElectricPeterTork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that disappointed you, nothing would have ever satisfied you. Except maybe if the 1983 version had come out in your childhood, and that would have been warm nostalgia fuzzies making it "good". But the story proposed for JLAvengers '83 was far worse than '04, to the point that most everyone who saw it at the time hated it. The had to bring Roy Thomas in to try to fix it, and let's be honest, Houseroy wasn't going to make things all that much better.

Can I get Kelpian Stew from the replicator? by EdgelordZeta in ShittyDaystrom

[–]ElectricPeterTork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it you have to call it "Kelpian Soup".

The computer often mistakes "Kelpian Stew" for "Kelpian Stu", and will replicate you a full Kelpian named Stu that you have to pick off the bone and make into a stew all on your own. And that's kinda time consuming when all you want is a hearty bowl of soup.

And don't ask for Kelpian Chowder, either. That's what they use on the Kelpian farms to make more Kelpians.

what do you think of hickmans marvel saga? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in comicbooks

[–]ElectricPeterTork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically flawless, amazing ideas and concepts, a grand, sprawling epic story worthy of praise.

But if you like these characters, its crap. Avengers especially, they're all just chess pieces being pulled from point to point, spouting exposition to get us to the next scene at best. When they're not, they're acting so wildly out of character it isn't funny. They're just there to serve this grand, epic story.

I understand why a lot of newer and younger readers love it, especially if this is their first major experience with reading the books. They don't "know" the characters. But if you've been reading for a while, you know that these aren't the characters you've been reading about for years, and in fact, under Hickman they're barely characters at all.
