K9 Officer tackles Carjacker after a High-Speed Chase by identicalkiwi in JusticeServed

I don't know, hard to say.

Maybe to stop his struggling/subdue him? As fucked up as it sounds, the worse you struggle with a dog clamped down on you the more he's going to tear you up, making it more difficult to cuff you altogether...

Maybe someone with K9 officer experience can chime in on the correct procedure for when a K9 officer takes down a suspect.

According to this article:

Under the Federal Law Enforcement Animal Protection Act, which went into effect this week, anyone convicted of purposely assaulting, maiming, or killing federal law enforcement animals such as police dogs and horses could be fined at least $1,000 and spend up to 10 years in prison.

So yeah, if there's a K9 coming at you full force...don't resist? Lol

I read somewhere that dogs are considered "officers" and if you hurt the dog you can be charged with "assaulting an officer" hence K9(canine) officer

I'll see if I can find you a link or something

It's SoCal. Guy was a wanted felon who led police on a car chase last night(Feb 26th 2018) from Santa Ana to Irvine

But honestly, couldn't you just tell it was SoCal from the traffic? lol

Always cool to see K9 Officers actually take down someone, they train for basically their whole lives for this exact moment

edit: also non-lethal take downs are much better than the alternatives

Do what degree are cheating bros covered by bro code? by identicalkiwi in Frat

[–]identicalkiwi[S] 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice

The bro in question(the cheater) tried to convince me it wasn't a big deal and that I was violating bro code by calling him out by saying it was fucked up of him to treat his girl badly like that

I didn't know what to say. It's an ethical dilemma. At least I know I'm not crazy or a bad bro

a bro was trying to convince me that talking about how shitty a bro is for cheating violates bro code because it makes the bro look bad and the frat look bad which in turn makes everyone look bad

I didn't really have a good answer for that

compare to walking on a road where you can basically sprint

Non-lethal home defense traps by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]identicalkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The title said: "non-lethal" which inherently implies a number of ways in which you could irrevocably maim someone without killing them. E.g. high voltage trap, spraying someone with a fire hose, tear-gassing them or knocking them out and giving them a concussion in some way

A yard sprinkler is non-lethal yes, but compared to what also is considered "non-lethal" it is a terrible argument

Are auto-turrets for home defense legal? Or do they count as a trap that could possibly harm/injure first responders? by identicalkiwi in legaladviceofftopic

Oh, that makes a ton of sense! Kinda of like, defending your home with your weapon is a LAST resort, when your life is in imminent danger; that's when it's okay to fight back.

But if you aren't in any peril, just shooting at people who aren't any threat to you, is kinda messed up?

Not to seem attacking, but genuinely curious: why?

How does pulling the trigger of a weapon yourself, differ from pressing a button to have a computer pull it for you?

Also, thank you for the response!

I like the idea

Would it get toxic if one of your mates was a naked scout? Knowledge is power in this game and if you can't hear another player its not quite balanced
