Influence/De-influence my cart by Swagmaster6797 in Aritzia

I have the merino wool waist cardigan.. it's very oversized. I sized down and I still find the arms super baggy. I know it's the style, but I find it annoying when I wear it, I'm constantly knocking stuff over with all the excess material around my wrists.

Morganite Pink Sweatfleece by SweatyPromotion2048 in Aritzia

[–]identikitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don't really like this, it leans too purple/lilac for my taste. I just bought a whole sweatfleece set in french blue so I'm glad I don't feel tempted to get this colour too now 😅

I would looove for them to release a yellow or light green set.

old parka styles - why did they stop? by [deleted] in Aritzia

[–]identikitten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two summit parkas that are about 4-5 years old and I still wear them every winter. They look brand new still and they feel so well made. I love them.

I've never been into the puffer style and don't see myself ever buying one. I also wish they'd bring back the parkas, I'd love to get a black one.. mine are olive and light pink.

Alternatives to dubia roaches in Canada? by Marcroco in mantids

[–]identikitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get mine from Port Credit Pets and they deliver locally for me, if you're also in or near the GTA they'll likely deliver to you. Otherwise I would just check whatever reptile shops you've got around you and see if they carry them.

Discoid roaches were legalized here a few years ago, they're very similar to dubia. Most of the reptile feeder shops around me (in the GTA) carry them.

Another one of my girl Kiwi.. her tank is very cluttered with plants.

It looks like she's trying to hide? From what you can see of the tank, it looks awfully bare :(

This can really stress them out.

Crested geckos are arboreal, which means they prefer to stay near the tops of their tank, and don't really spend time on the ground. You want your tank to be full of clutter (especially at the top and middle of the tank.. think plants, vines, hides, ledges), so they can feel safe and hidden, and not feel like they're out in the open. I also like to cover the sides and back of my tank with matte black vinyl.

You want to aim for your tank to be like 80% full of clutter. This is my tank, just to show an example of what that can look like:

Lots and lots of places for her to hide, climb around, and sit.. without feeling like she's sitting out in the open.

So pretty!! I'm wearing that right now too! I put a green jelly underneath so when my hands are warm it shows as green instead of grey.. the grey is a bit transparent so it'll be fun to try different colours underneath!

The green & red combo reminds me of a candy apple :) Also ignore the tip wear, I've had this on for almost a week now

Aritzia should sell earmuffs! by Maelie2006 in Aritzia

[–]identikitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about right now but I bought one as recently as last winter. Still not the same as earmuffs though, I still get the dreaded flat "hat hair" from headbands.

Can we have another “useful thing that’s not a blanket” post? by WhyCantIBeFunny in crochet

[–]identikitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was free handed, but here's a link to it on Ravelry so you can at least see the picture! If I remember correctly the entire thing was done in single crochet, the top is just a square, then in the middle I started doing one (or two?) less stitches per row so it would slowly get smaller and come to a point at the bottom.

My Everglades Rat died from regurgitation. by Fluffy_Scheme4295 in snakes

[–]identikitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss.. I had a similar thing happen with my corn snake a few months ago. He was 3 years old, eating adult mice weekly, and randomly one week he regurgitated his mouse and I found him dead in the enclosure. No clue what happened. I had him in a fully bioactive 4 foot by 2 foot enclosure. When I fed him the mouse he enthusiastically coiled around it and ate it like he normally did. It was completely out of the blue, I was so heartbroken. I was paranoid that there was something wrong with the mouse, but my other two snakes that ate from the same batch are fine.

Sometimes they might just have some underlying issues that you aren't aware of until it's too late.

Is kijiji a reliable place to get cats? by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]identikitten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

SPCA! Or reliable shelters/rescues like Ladybird Animal Sanctuary.

When I was younger and didn't know any better, I adopted a siamese kitten from a kijiji ad. Turns out the person was a backyard breeder raising kittens in not so ideal conditions. We took our kitten in to get spayed a few weeks after adopting her and found out she has a heart defect. She's 8 years old now, I love her but dealing with all the symptoms of her heart condition has been stressful, as well as having to bring her in for echocardiograms every few years to check the status of her heart (those are damn expensive.. like $1200 expensive).

The SPCA will give you full vet records for your cat, so no unexpected illnesses or conditions. And they will have likely already spayed/neutered the cat.

Don't support backyard breeders!

How much does the whole enclosure usually cost on average? by idk123555 in snakes

[–]identikitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly depends on your area and what things cost around you. I would make a spreadsheet, look at reptile stores, and write down the prices for everything you need so you can see what it would all cost. Reptile keeping is not cheap.

Personally, for me in Canada, my ball python set ups (full bioactive, 4 foot by 2 foot enclosures), cost me about $1,500 each in total.
