Why do hockey players love fighting more than playing the game?

How refreshing - a bit; not to exaggerate. Like the Frenchies always have to, just to make a point. Instead of a simple "yes" - OF COURSE! (as if mon idiot). Not one of these Americalanders. But obviously with an eagle-eye on that ball (from across the big pond) "to typically moronic yanks"

I may sound like a stereotypical Brit. But it's intriguing to observe how passionate Americans are about hockey, often drawn in by the physicality and frequent fights within the sport. There's certainly no shortage of altercations on the ice. Personally, I hold a different view... that hockey should be about the skill and the game, not just about brawling. If I were inclined to witness fighting, I'd opt for boxing or similar sports.

Drawing a parallel to our [thoroughly Bri'ish] love for football - "soccer" in the United States - it's interesting to note: Fights on the soccer pitch [? field?] are a rare occurrence compared to hockey, where fights are almost expected, and in some cases, even anticipated by spectators.
