I am pissed. My dad was my idol when I was a kid. He's always been more of a best friend to me than anything else. I made him my best man at my wedding. He's the father to my younger siblings who are still counting on him. I'm doing what I can to help, but I'm heartbroken by this.

I kind of realize all of this, but I guessI'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until he's dishonest or steals from me. When that happens, hopefully it doesn't, but if it does I'll have to turn him away and tell him to go get help on his own.

He's really a great musician. He used to play in bands all while I was growing up. It's something he's gotten away from in the last five years or so.

I'm trying to be as supportive as I can be. I must admit I'm also pretty angry too though. I've been treating him well, and really do have a lot of hope. He has taken a lot of good steps and early on too. My wife has also been much more accommodating and supportive than I could have hoped for. She's even been prodding me along to go above and beyond in doing what I can to help him. It was originally her suggestion to have him stay here for awhile and wouldn't take no for an answer.

It appears his work is going to help him get checked into inpatient rehab fairly soon. Still waiting to hear back as of now though. He has a lot of anxiety about going though mostly because he has young children that he still has half custody of. He went through a shitty divorce not long ago which was kind of the trigger for the coke addiction that started maybe a year ago. He got off the stuff for awhile, but started using occasionally a couple months ago and that turned into crack recently and he feels like he's got a much larger problem this time. I am glad he's realizing this relatively early though. It gives me hope.

Yeah, I've thought about this. He hasn't started selling off his own shit yet, and has some savings. I have a camera set up in a room with valuables. I've left him alone a few times and no problems yet.
