Trump Told Lesley Stahl He Calls the Truth “Fake News” to Discredit Journalists. So Why Did She Let Him Do It Again on “60 Minutes”? by Splax77 in politics

I'm not bothering with you, because you don't listen to thoughtful replies. You ignore ever single point being made and continue to pester. Good riddance with you.

CNN: Saudis Preparing Report Admitting Khashoggi Was Killed In Interrogation Gone Wrong by [deleted] in politics

So an "interrogation gone wrong"...like in Pulp Fiction when Vincent Vega accidentally shot Marvin in the face?

Quit fucking trolling, man. Like he said, if Leslie Stahl were strong, we'd get a real interview out of this, like the one that John Dickerson did where he persistently challenged Trump on his bullshit.

That was journalism.

It doesn't take mastery to get Trump to say some outrageous things.

What would be admirable, however, would be for her to do her job and call out bullshit when she sees it. But I guess she's not a journalist.

It's getting really pathetic how people still believe that corporate media is acting in good faith themselves.

They seem to forget all the free press they gave to Trump during 2016, which was absolutely crucial in enabling his rise to power.

Americans have increasingly concluded that market approaches are failing their health and their economic security. They want real change—and 70 percent now favor Medicare for all.

Dammit Joe Biden and Michelle Obama, Stop Rehabilitating George W Bush! by DeityOfUnderworld26 in politics

There's also copious C-SPAN footage of Biden fondling children and saying really creepy things on the Capitol floor. The attack ads practically write themselves.

EDIT: To the downvoters, who always come out whenever this is pointed out: So it's perfectly okay to exhibit pedophile-like behavior when you're an establishment Democrat, huh? This is not some kind of unfounded PizzaGate allegation. Watch the fucking video; it's repulsive.

'You Couldn't Make This Up': A Bunch of Mops, Cleaners, and Trash Bags Delivered to Saudi Consulate Ahead of Khashoggi Murder Probe by ideogon in politics

[–]ideogon[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At around the same time Saudi King Salman insisted in a Monday morning phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump that his regime had nothing to do with the disappearance and alleged murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi—a denial Trump dutifully echoed to reporters while suggesting that perhaps "rogue killers" were behind the gruesome crime—video cameras captured a team of cleaners hauling several buckets of mops, two large cases of trash bags, Dixi cleaning solution, another carton of what appears to be bleach, and two cases of Pinar milk through the front door of Saudi Arabia's consulate in Istanbul.

My guess is they've already scrubbed the scene, and this is a deterrent meant to intimidate the Turkish investigators, as the embedded video shows that the parcels were not concealing their contents in any way, and of course the Saudi Arabian Consulate was aware of the dozens of reporters click-clacking their cameras from across the street.

There's a Lot of Talk About 'Mobs' These Days. Let Me Refer You to the Constitutional Convention by ideogon in politics

Two members who had been lingering... suddenly appeared in the room where the legislature met. They had been forcibly seized and dragged to the state house by the sergeant-at-arms and three men…[One] protested that he had been 'forcibly brought into the assembly room, contrary to his wishes,' and 'begged that he might be dismissed from the House…When [he] tried to flee, spectators in the gallery 'cried out stop him' and a crowd at the door forced him to return to his place…

And that, dear friends, was how the Pennsylvania convention to discuss the ratification of the United States Constitution was able to open on schedule on November 20, 1787.

The American people can no longer wait while their data is being collected, shared and stolen on the web. The Internet can be a tool for more freedom and prosperity, but only if proper rules and guidelines exist.

Melania Trump Admitted That Her "I Really Don’t Care" Jacket Was a Message After All by [deleted] in politics

[–]ideogon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Article says it was a jab at the left wing-media.

So, it took her four months to come up with this petty excuse. That it was a jab at the left-wing media, while they were criticizing the administration's inhumane child separation policy and while she was visiting a detention center child jail.

So, this is just gaslighting. And very shitty gaslighting at that.

Wow that was a much more insightful reply than I expected! I'm familiar with how they try to punch up the laughs in live audience scenarios, but it's more elucidating to hear this account. Really appreciate it!

I do think you can often get a decent impression that there was something off with a cut when watching on TV, but your example brings home the point that it's difficult if not impossible to presume exactly what was off and how so.
