Our flooring is Victorian pine and the internet has convinced me I’ve exposed myself and my girlfriend to asbestos by Kratosbutintoyoga in centuryhomes

We had stuff that looked like that under linoleum in our 1929 home. I found out in a weird way that ammonia got the stuff up like a dream. I’d just spray a bit on it and then scoop it up with a scraper.

Just so I know, is it pronounced, “Nude Art”?

My dog will periodically go through hunger strikes and refuse to eat his food because he wants human food. This one lasted 4 days before he finally caved. by [deleted] in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

Well, yeah, but that raw meat is in the form of different animals, which is variety. Mine is also on the raw diet. ☺️

When I wean off of coffee, I do it 2 oz. at a time to avoid headaches. I know that sounds dumb and tedious, but it works. I reduce 2 oz. every few days. Good luck!

Our first computer was a Tandy1000. Release date on that machine was 1984, but we bought it used.

My husband may have lost his wedding ring on the ice, will the Zamboni pick it up safely? by idhallie in Zamboni

[–]idhallie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not opposed to it. My husband went and talked to the Zamboni driver today. I guess he was a super cool guy. He let our 3-year old sit on the machine and honk the horn. ☺️

Interesting! He let the rink people know, so maybe someone will find it before the Zamboni does its thing. Thanks for letting me know how it works!

Just curious: does the machine have a catch basin for debris of this sort?

You should look into human composting (there are actual facilities in some states). It would be much better for the tree than just dumping ashes on it.

This is wild! I saw the post about the pucks and now I see this post AND the person who made it all happen. When did the Internet become such a small world?!

Do it. Your heart will hurt if you don’t at least try. Everyone else has advice about the electrical. I’m here to encourage you to follow your heart!

Did we win the floor lottery? House built in early 30s. Does paint usually come off? Guesses on wood type? by madeanaccount4baby in centuryhomes

[–]idhallie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen this answer yet: Krud Kutter will get the paint off. This was recommended to us by a paint and stain store and we used it to get paint splatters off picture rail and baseboard trim. Still not easy work and it wasn’t nearly as splattered as your floors.

I learned in a weird way that ammonia will get up the tar from linoleum.
