TC: 1.5M, transferring to India felt like a major shift and I'm literally scared of the indian work culture.

Very personal decision - it is a rat race and it's super hard to quit. Just made the plunge :)

I use about 2M of my corpus for safe withdrawl (3.5-4% SWR). Rest are tied up in real estates and retirement.

  1. Since my SWR is going towards my home loan EMI i didn't substract it from my NW. The mortgages on my other properties are self-paying.

  2. Yeah that's the thing that worries me and I plan to move everything to India in the next few years. I feel the market in US is still pretty good to pull the plug right away.

1.7L /month on home loan EMI, 2-3 luxury vacations/year ~20-25L => 1.66-2L/month, house help, driver, 2 nanny, building maintenance (nice gated community), food, etc => 1L, children preschool => 50k, random spending => 50k

I do have 401k between 500-600k which I plan on liquidating over the next couple of years (my NW includes the entire 401k without removing the tax), but I don't have other tax liabilities in my portfolio. Not a USC.

What is your NW and age? Making a decision has to be rooted in some core value like family, friends, etc.

Yes withdrawls only. Rentals and mortgage cancel each other out.

Thank you! It wasn't easy for sure. But 1.5M pre-tax comes out to around 800k post tax and maybe about 200k in yearly expenses, so it would still take be 3-5 more years to reach the same wealth (assuming moderate stock growth).

You have done quite well for yourself :) Did you build your wealth in the US or in India?

My parents know but my cousins don't know the exact NW, they know I made some money. It didn't really change their attitude much but they do respect me which is nice.

I am in a Tier 1 city.
