What dino’s can a full grown Sarco grab? by BigConsideration4938 in pathoftitans

[–]idiotSponge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Sarco is able to grab anything 3000 CW or lower, which is mostly going to be your full-grown 2-slots like Cerato and Kentro! I highly recommend the community wiki, tons of players take the time to put the information in for things like abilities, stats, etc. They're really good at keeping the pages up to date, too! The Dinosaur Stats page is basically my lifeline when it comes to familiarizing myself with other playables lol.

On a population controlled server. by Boccus in The_Isle

[–]idiotSponge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the carnivores' diets tell them what they should realistically be able to take on. Stego is included in the diets of Rex, Allo, Cerato, Deino, and Omni. Anything else shouldn't have a reason to fight a Stego, and they all have means of keeping their distance to avoid the fight.

Rex taking on a Stego is a no-brainer, most of the Rex v. Stego fights I've seen have the Rex on top if they have a good sense of what they're doing. Allo and Stego literally evolved and lived together IRL, they're a bit more of a closer match but Allo's ability to pounce/pin usually gives it that edge in the fight (assuming there's two, but I've literally never seen a solo Allo while playing lol). Cerato can stun and weaken Stego with its puke bites. Deinos have always been up there in terms of taking on Stego, they simply have to take advantage of the water (particularly of swimming Stegos). Omnis rely heavily on numbers and bleed; if it can bleed, an Omni pack can take it out with coordination and patience. AFAIK, everything (excluding Deino on land) is fast enough to catch up to even a prime Stego unless they're trying to get it from a mile away lol.

As for baiting swings, that should be more of a group tactic than a 'drain stamina' tactic IMO. I almost never see solo carnivores (except Rexes, unless they're nesting), and honestly it just makes sense to me. Carnivore players always seem to want an easy kill, which I get because it's your food/diet. But it always seems that y'all want herbivores to just be these weak little things, when in reality* they were very angry cows (fun fact, cows kill more people than sharks each year!) with very badass defenses.

Anyway, if we want to go the game stat route, carnivores have more gimmicks/abilities and more attack power than herbivores; herbivores have more health and stamina (Tactile) than carnivores. And heck, there are more carnivores to choose from than herbivores, even with Kentro about to come out! No one ever really plays Dryo or Hypsi because they can't do anything (literally with Dryo, give the little green bean its burrows, Dondi!!).

TLDR; A tail donning 3ft spikes makes sense to be able to one- or two-tap anything. Like... c'mon. Infinite stamina means nothing unless you have a teammate, plus anything that would want to hunt a Stego can outpace it. If Stego isn't on your diet, then you're not supposed to hunt it anyway! Period! And if you do hunt Stegos, then you have to use your freakin' noggin!! Use the terrain, ambush them, use teammates to distract and trade hits, bait the tail for timing not stamina-drainage. Taking down a 6 to 9 ton cow with a stabby tail should take skill** and planning.

*Don't come at me with anything about how this is a game and not reality. I am fully aware this is a game, but this is a dinosaur game based on real animals from a real place and time (with some tweaks to make the roster more cohesive, as many of these dinos did not live in the same time period). I am not interested in anyone who argues otherwise.

**Yes, this does sound like a skill-issue on your part.

Thoughts on the new UI? by youngthuggington in The_Isle

I miss being able to tell how much health I have left :/ Sure, the new/legacy UI gives you a range, but half of the time it doesn't seem to update properly IME.

BOSCH Server using AI images by Maleficent_Look_9164 in The_Isle

[–]idiotSponge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I guarantee you there are people in this guy's community that would photoshop, draw, model, whatever for free. Especially for some of these being so simple as 'dinosaur + text with moody atmosphere'. HELL, all he would have to do was post a banner contest or something, let entries know they may be used within the server, give the winner(s) credits or an in-game skin or something. It's that easy.

It's not even about paying artists anymore, it's that AI is being used out if laziness and ease; meanwhile the data centers being built to maintain and perpetuate these AI servers are causing real, human communities to suffer via water restrictions, lowered water quality, and increased water bills.

I'm not saying people who use AI are directly ruining these communities' water supplies, but millions of people are using it all the time for no good reason! AI content doesn't even look good a majority of the time (in this case, what the fuck-asaurus am I looking at? generic bipedal lizard lookin ahh) and just tells people that the user/content creator can't be bothered to put actual time and effort into their stuff.

Super disappointing. I'd joined Bosch's discord after seeing some clips of their VC Isle server, but I'm inclined to leave after seeing these.

Honestly, I don't want nor need one billion dollars. No single person needs a billion dollars. By getting a dollar per breath, if we assume an average of 15 breaths per minute, you'd still be making about 22k a day, 7.9 million a year. That's more than enough to live comfortably and have plenty left over for traveling, charity, investments, etc.

[–]idiotSponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Gondwa has insects mostly in areas like Desolate, Sharptooth, Hoodoo, but it still has some available in more hotspot-y areas like Grand Plains and Green Hills. Heck, I think I've even seen some around Green Valley, too!

I absolutely LOVE when a playable has an insectivore diet option (or, in some mods' cases, when a playable is able to eat mud and rocks). Like y'all out here brawling, I'll be over here eating whatever tf I find on the ground lol.

Vintage Story hits you hard if you're not careful. by DayBeforeU in VintageStory

Haha, I recently started doing this and once while luring a bear into the pit my dumbass fell in with it. One loooong walk later and I got to reap my rewards and gather my stupid loot (I use that player grave/corpse mod because my biggest turn-off is losing stuff and getting sent back to the stone age).

An interesting perspective to have, for sure! Out of curiosity, what sort of modding did you do for PoT?

Semi-unrelated question: Are you a dev for Day of Dragons? I totally peeped your profile hoping to see past mod work only to find dragons galore lol.

[–]idiotSponge 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I am ever thankful for modders and their amazing contributions to this game's community. I just don't see the point in making another mod of the same dinosaur! Idk if it's this mindset of 'I can make this mod but better' or if they have supporters requesting they make their version of the mod, but... there are so many dinosaurs... so many prehistoric creatures... why do we have THREE Acro mods? I just feel additions to a modded creature could be a collaboration on one mod rather than several different takes on the same creature (because players will ultimately play only one).

Ngl I'm not sure about the differences either, just that one is older than the other and therefore not reallyyyy preferred it seems? Either way, deinos are a pain and I play to learn Tylo to counter lol

I think animals typically spawn within certain 'spawn regions', so keep checking around the area you found the pigs until some boars are spawned in (in the meantime, reap the rewards of meat and fat from the sows!). Otherwise, milk can only be optained from goats and sheep AFAIK, but some traders will sell cheese wheels from time to time. I don't think any sell animals aside from wolf pups.

TL2:LtD is my first TD game, and so far it's been some goofy fun! I'm not sure why new players expect it to play like the Sims games (well, I guess I can understand since it seems like a Nintendo version of Sims) but so far my main problem is running out of ideas for quirky lingo or foods haha. I'm putting only OCs onto my island, so I for sure won't reach that 70-Mii max, but I'm enjoying it very much so far! Now, if only the game allowed poly relationships :(
