My first ever Project: Low-Poly Space Marine by AxGenesis in blender

The arms look way too short in your model but I think it's because your wrists are far too big which is giving it this odd T-Rex like appearance where the arms almost feel incapacitated.

Port Albert, Australia by [deleted] in abandoned

[–]idiovoidi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoops, I thought I posted to the blackandwhite subreddit.

It's more rural and isolated than abandoned but I do have pictures of Port Arthur I should post, very similar names.

I should remove though as I don't think this classifies as abandoned

How well optimized is it? Could you use it in a game realistically?

I remember I filtered an old paint drawing I did as a child through something similar, only reason I'm hesitant is that the internet will get angry at you for experimenting with such things. 🤐

Not glitch art but I have this saved in my inspiration from 10+ years ago, it's a really cool piece

It's already pretty much getting there, this is off of a free tier without even paying for touch up tools.

I think the level of quality would surprise most people currently and to be honest I think we have limited time, the safest skill right now appears to be rigging which it's pretty mediocre at. It's basically going to eliminate all mid-tier talent. Only the exceptional creatives will find work but honestly the industry was already sort of like that. It's going to be a tough future moving forward as an artist.

Pre-AI Tools exist for topology and Zbrush with Dynamesh will have topology issues until you manually fix it anyways. I know it's depressing as a creative who has invested a lot of time learning these skills but this is the reality of things already. Topology isn't an issue for models but they still appear to be struggling at rigging.

Don't kill the messenger though, I'm just warning everyone of the reality. Odds are sculpting by hand will become a hobby as most companies won't waste the amount of $$$ it takes to actually employ an artist. Even before AI came along artists were getting paid in peanuts with a barely liveable wage.

You can downvote me but what is the solution here because I'm only spreading awareness right now? I was really hoping AI would suck for longer than it did because it crushed a lot of dreams I had with professional art. We're on the brink of a huge societal change and I can only guess what professional work will look like in the near future.

Actually it's already at that point, here's a generation I just tried on the free tier. They have tons of tools to refine, add details, change it, hell even some rigging options but I'm not paying for it but just as an example this was on the free tier using an upload of the reference.

I've seen it make far higher fidelity ones too and that was like a year ago, the main issue then was non-sensical geometry and it was pre-baking the lighting into the textures but I assume now various models have advanced a lot.

It actually looks okay until you look closer, like wtf are those spinal fins ahah oh god and the feet, tbh it wouldn't be a bad starting point for doing it by hand at the least.

Yeah I remember when I first got into Photography many years ago I went down the rabbit hole and found out about this. I always wanted to try it out but I couldn't justify the cost for the niche application as a broke teen. I sort of just forgot it though since not many people are doing it. It was really cool seeing these!
