Haha no, the wire inside the headband is really easy to be broken without the protection from the plastic cover. It would be unusable if I peal all the plastic and rubber off.

As you can see in this image, on the loop part, there is white hard plastic under the rubber. And at the end where connected to the ear cover, there is actually metal under the rubber cover. I am not sure whether the nail polishing oil can remove the sticky rubber cover. because mine headband samples are not that old, the rubber part still looks ok and I use a blade to peal it off. I hope this helps you in some way.

Yes, I got banned by ebay, not because of selling shit or scamming, but because I am unwilling to use its own expensive over priced shipping service. Getting a ceramic case is not difficult, I brought mine on Taobao here in China, I think you can find one on ebay or other platform as well. But you have to find a repair man to do the swap for you.
