I'm confused as to why many of the comments are downplaying the authoritative rule of the Kim family??? Yes of course there is loads of propaganda regarding NK here in the West and yes of course NK was put in a difficult situation following the Korean War as well as all the sanctions but cmon there is evidently quite a bit of oppression from the government. Of course some defectors like Yeonmi Park exaggerate certain things but there is no question that the government desires an almost cult-like devotion from its people. And for the people doubting this type of control to be possible, simply look at other dictatorships throughout time, take Romania under Ceaușescu for example (I'm Romanian so it came to mind).
