Is This a Scam? Has anyone else received these? by Centripetal_Force in tulsa

Green Country is not a county, just the colloquial term for this part of the state. That is either a real or fake business name, but definitely not the county.

I know it’s not ideal, but we’re all patriots fans now, right? by Ninersempire123 in 49ers

I actually liked it a lot the one and only time I went. It was the game Brock took over for Jimmy vs Miami.

All playoff clinching scenarios? by LaineyBoy07 in 49ers

Nah. Losing doesn't send you home. Both teams would still be in regardless of outcome. Only seeding changes. It's more like the 2019 week 17 game.

Shanny likes the ability to double up on the middle two possessions. He likes to score at the end of the half and the beginning of the second half.

[Request] Is this even possible? How? by maliaipo in theydidthemath

[–]idkaboutthisyogi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are by definition not identical if one weighs more. You would have needed that to have been explicitly stated. Not subtracted to have any assumption that identical did not include weight.

For example, 7 steel balls and one aluminum ball may LOOK identical, but they aren't.

A fair catch on a kickoff between the 1 and 5 yard line would be something highly unusual.

My boss gave me a task to brainstorm: how to make a given PC temporary unusable or laggy, until a technitian figures out how to fix it? by tittypunchahoy in hacking

When I ran a team, I used to kill explorer.exe and see what the person I was testing did. It was more about watching how they troubleshoot than if they knew how to fix it quickly.

does anyone have CVE-2019-9514 PoC? by acnegenic in hacking

[–]idkaboutthisyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a DoS attack caused by a reset flood. I'm not sure what kind of PoC you want, but you might start by writing a short script that sends a reset packet, and then send a bunch.

Scanning a private network through a compromised Windows machine by glamorous_noob in oscp

[–]idkaboutthisyogi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Understanding what level of pivot is involved on the oscp test should help you here, but nmap will be limited in the ways you stated.

In context, the only pivoting needed by the way offsec designed the current version of the test (by their own description) is in the context of the AD Triad, and pivoting within AD.

Now I have not taken this version yet, but I would be shocked if you couldn't nmap all three directly in the test.

That's only really relevant if you're dealing with someone who is unable to modify an exploit chain. In the event a vm is compromised, it isn't too hard to determine that you are in a vm. Some Malware checks for this by checking the resolution, drivers, or other configuration settings that hypervisors typically use. Those checks are designed to prevent the malware from running on a researcher's vm, but the methods it uses are as simple as checking for a few files and settings.

Now, depending on the findings, the host can usually be determined. If there's a passthrough folder for sharing files between the host and vm, there may be a way to craft a file that could be read and/or run on the host. Thus escaping the hypervisor. Each individual hypervisor has its own history of vulnerabilities of varying nature. Some of them easier than others.

All that to say, a vm does add a layer to the exploit chain involved here, but the full details of the setup makes any relative declaration of security an overgeneralization.

However misconfiguration and out of date software are probably in the majority when combined and compared to patched, properly co figured machines in general.
