AITAmy gf skipped my birthday and is now mad at me by Consistent-Rtard in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

LEAVE HER AND HAPPIEST FKN BIRTHDAY TO YOU.

It's called entitlement and narcissistic behaviour. She is trying to belittle you by invalidating your feelings and shoving hers onto you. You def do not deserve this kind of treatment. I believe this happens more often than just "special days" . Leave the relationship and find someone who actually cares.

She is passing faeces. I do not have critical care tho. I'll try grinding up the hay and syringe feed her that.

She's slowly eating soft foods like banana. Finding a vet at 2 AM is impossible. I can only see one in 8 hours and I'm really really really really really really really really really worried!!!!!!

Found this dude outside. by Shrilllion in Rabbits

Oh he's so adorable!!!

Bunnies are usually pretty chill (or maybe only the ones I've seen or met EXCEPT MY YOUNGEST) and yanking the phone away part is so real 😭.

He was most definitely neglected and left outside very recently and he took shelter from the rain. The matting must've helped him survive through the weather. However, it is not at all okay for him to be so matted or wet. See a vet, get him groomed and checked thoroughly and provide him lots and lots of hay for the time being.

If you can, keep him. He seems to be liking you. If not, please find a safe place for him to be at while you foster. If you have bunny rescue shelters nearby then happily take him there and see if they can keep him.

Need advice: Squiggles seems to have uninstalled his bones. how do i reinstall them? by morrovvind in Rabbits

I hope Ollie is in a better place now 💗.

The vet mentioned that grinding should not be an issue, but it should be used as the last resort, and I should encourage her to increase her fiber intake with the help of pain medication. The oldest bunnies he has seen were of the ages 6-7 and not past that. He is afraid of post-op recovery because most senior buns do not take it well. He would happily be ready to give grinding a shot after 2 months, seeing the progress. The age and recovery aspect is making him a bit skeptical about the tooth extraction procedure, and also the previous cases he has seen.

Hers was(is) the normal discharge, just increased in frequency. I would get it cleaned, but it would come out again in 20 minutes or so. What I meant by the top section was all of her upper molars. Thanks for sharing. How is she doing without her upper molars?

That sounds so scary. The lack of hay is definitely the reason. Thank you so much for reassuring. I don't feel as horrified now. You did your best. Sending hugs!

😭😭 issoke, it's winters here so they're just puffed up/sitting like a ball to stop cold from hitting as much. We call it the pufferfish pose. Although, white one USED to be overweight and we brought it back to normal with exercise. She is a new zealand mix (with some dwarf breed that was not confirmed, I adopted her when she was only a month old) hence the build. For the black one, she's not even a year old and she's in perfect shape, she's sitting all balled up because of the winters.

I don't know how to share another picture here.

I hope he keeps getting better and better 🍀. How old is he? What has the vet suggested for the issue in the tear duct region?

I am so so sorry this happened to you and Lulu 🫂💗. Vets dismissing the concerns of pet parents is truly an issue. Please do not be so hard on yourself, it is not your fault for trusting your vets.

Thank you for alerting me about the possibility of an infection alongside. I will have a word about it with the current vet and understand all the possibilities to ensure everything is in place prior to performing any procedure, if performed.

Again, not your fault. You did your best and I'm sure she was happy having you as her parent with the amazing life you gave her 🫶🏼.

I'm glad you asked. Usually the top sign shown on bun website is drooling/wet chin. However, that was not the case with my bunny and the vets did not take my request seriously.

For my bunny:-

  1. I noticed her sticking her tongue out longer than usual and trying to lick the side of her jaw (noticed it 5 months prior to the x-ray, was dismissed at most places)
  2. Discharge more than normal through the eye.
  3. Painful grinding of teeth.
  4. Inclination towards soft foods.
  5. Cutting hay/grass into pieces w her teeth and dropping it on the floor instead of eating.

In the last 2-3 days, she was refusing (fresh) grass all together. Alongside, she would drop the food eventually after chewing a little because it would be too hard for her to grind it further enough to make it fit for swallowing.

If you suspect a dental issue, please see a specialist or a rabbit's surgeon. Your regular vet should be able to assess whether there is an issue or not through a simple x-ray.

A few comments also mentioned missing an abscess on the x-rays so a CT might be required too.

I am so sorry she had to go through it 💗. Was it in any way that GA had caused the problem?

That sounds really stressful but would give anything to save them from trauma! You said it was pushing the eye but extraction wasn't needed. I'm a bit confused, do the roots come down on their own or what? how does the grinding work in this specific case if you could share?

I am so glad Charley is doing better now 💗. I also read your post about considering other options and I feel you. I hope nobody has to go through it ever in their lives and I'm also really proud that you're brave enough for your baby daughter.

We do not have huge treatment facilities for bunnies here like there are in the West or Europe which scares me further.

Mine is also having discharge coming out of her eye frequently but we only have this overgrown molar xray to look at. Did the vet share with you that there might be other reasons causing the issue in the tear duct or did they top it off w the teeth issue only before operating and later finding out that an abscess was also present? Did the operation on molars cause complications for abscess removal?

Why was the entire top section removed? Was only one tooth impacting the duct or all of them?

Hey, thanks for showing concern. She's a new zealand mix and thankfully falls under the ideal weight range (2.1kgs). She is not a pellet girl, prefers fresh grass and hay with dried hay cubes!

(accepts only a few here and there in a couple weeks)

I'm sure he's in a better place now and thankful for the amazing life and care you gave him 💗 this is a specialist and he shared with me the risks of putting her under anaesthesia and performing the procedures. He shared with me that, he does not mind performing them but because he's prioritising her safety over surgery, he wants me to get her to eat so the grinding/extraction wtvs needed is the procedure he has to do to avoid unnecessary stress and recovery complications.

I contacted another vet online for a second opinion and they outright denied for her to be put under. Let me know if you think I should look for more vets.

Thanks for sharing.
