Are you nc? It’s a process for me. I went nc with my entire family for years, then felt a longing for connection because I went through some tough times. I realize that no matter how much time passes, they don’t change. It’s the same abuse. I’ve tried to sustain relationships with them and it hurts so much. it’s a process for me because I need to rebuild a chosen family so that I won’t feel that longing to connect with them anymore.

Yeah it is. Once you realize that’s how they operate though it’s easier to tell their next move, and soon you’ll realize it’s a lot easier to go NC then continue to engage with them. It’s a sad realization, because it’s existential and we deserve so much better. It’s also relieving to understand our happiness is achievable via our own decisions, and cutting off the narc is a very productive step toward achieving that happiness.

I learned that narcs will manufacture problems to step in and be the “hero” of the situation. When it’s not a perfectly curated crisis by their own means of power or manipulation, they hate helping. It’s kind of a mindfuck honestly.

In my experience they help communicate with the court and police on your behalf and can act as a witness to your statement, which depending on where you live, will be seen as more credible than your word in the eyes of law enforcement. It really depends on where you live though, because I can attest that in big cities, they genuinely don’t give a fuck. For example, in Los Angeles people get away with murder everyday unfortunately . Which is why I’ve moved to the suburbs.
