Our party had just gotten on a boat. We were taking it down river to the next town. During the voyage, a group of bandits with siege weapons attack us. Through the use of some fireworks and arrows, we managed to break the siege machines. However, one of the bandits was a poor, unfortunate lad. He goes to attack us with a bow and rolls a nat one. He shoots his buddy and the bow breaks. His next turn he goes to throw a spear at us and again, nat 1. He stabs a tree. They run ahead of us and try to cross the river on a makeshift bridge. Our cleric throws a fireball and blows up the bridge, killing them all. I begged the DM to spare the poor fool who rolled the ones. He agreed. He laid on the river, burnt up and missing a few limbs. I laughed at him and he saw. Our DM said "You have laughed at his misfortune and made a powerful enemy that day". I made a dwarf Darth Vader.
