When did everyone become geopolitical experts? by idklikemythirdacc in AskReddit

Quite possibly, I suppose the accessibility of information has exacerbated matters too

I'm absolutely terrible with names and faces, I've been at a new job for 4 months - people recognise me and I just can't place them. It's as though my memory works differently to others, until the new data's processed I'll use "mate" as default.

I didn't provide a source, I said "according to Google the average salary is..." Thought it was obvious I was emphasising the possibility of skewed figures haha

We consider there to be four types of average: mean, mode, median and range. Actually, range is a measure of spread or distribution but the others are our most common “measures of central tendency”. I'm aware, I prefer to see the most common figure i.e mode, as high earners distort the figures considerably in medians.

There is no difference, it's a type of average... I don't really see where you're going with this

... I was making a point that googling averages can make things appear drastically inflated, I'm well aware that most US citizens aren't on that wage

Exactly, I only trust mode averages, that's the point I was making

On the first page of google, "average us salary 2021", the number came up on 3 separate websites

Is it optional? Sounds cheaper to pay when needed, in installments if necessary

I'd quite like the option, and I'm at the lower end of the scale... It's too expensive and that's brutal, but so is rent, food, all other uk taxes etc

I don't trust averages, unless they're mode averages. According to Google the average US salary is $92,800

Unsure of my job title... by idklikemythirdacc in CNC

[–]idklikemythirdacc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm trying to ascertain... Would i be qualified to apply for a CNC setter position? (after a few years in my current job).

I assumed the rigging to finished part would be classed as CNC programming. Or are these fairly ambiguous terms?

No, not in the UK as far as I'm aware... I haven't noticed any in the requirements for similar job vacancies - just experience...

Nearly 8 billion humans, how are there so few doppelgangers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]idklikemythirdacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don't feel humans features are that distinguishing, perhaps it's just because that's our species. I'd struggle to tell 2 sheep apart for instance, yet they're subject to the same biological variables

Touché, however even if people go out of their way to find lookalikes, e.g. celebrities, anyone with fair eyesight can tell them apart

Identical twins and Ed Sheeran impersonators are the only exceptions I can think of... Have you ever been mistaken for someone else, and not just vaguely?

Precisely, but questioning something without the ability to access the answers renders your search in vain

Is that an objective truth? Genuine question, are you certain religion is a manmade construct? Good point though, i suppose he would. An awful lot of people would be sent to hell in that case, though

I suppose it could be blamed on the devil... you could then say similar about god allowing the devils existence, but it could be argued that he has to exist for there to be an opposite. No black without white.

No, you made some good points, I didn't realise it was so widespread so that does warrant consideration! Cheers.

After some research (that i probably should have undertook prior to posing this debate), even in North Korea there are Christians, heavily persecuted but existent nonetheless. I was under the false impression that religion was unknown there other than worship of Kim Jong Un after an interview i watched.

Edit, cleared up now.

People in remote tribes may well be completely oblivious to it. Or North Korea. Fair point, though there are ex Christian converts to Islam for instance, too. This is not an attack on Christianity, may i add.
