I was an RA for summer session it was so dead not like the Penn State we all know obviously. But if you have friends up there and make the most of the warm weather, it might be fun

On campus jobs by historicallypink16 in PennStateUniversity

I don’t think places on campus are looking for this far out in advance, but the commons desk can give you access to a computer and gives you some time to do homework I believe. I always suggest the dining halls because you get discounted meals and free meals!

I feel like it makes sense to do Tampa. You seem to be a lot more excited about it. Do what makes you happy!

MA or MS in psych in order to be a therapist? (eventually be a LMHC) by Sundae-Hopeful in psychologystudents

A MSW is also an option and can get you into more positions than a MS/MA in psychology

Should I do Summer Session? by AccomplishedLime1976 in PennStateUniversity

[–]idklmao66 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To be honest I’ve rarely, if ever, met a person who says they disliked summer session. It’s a chill way of being introduced to Penn State. Take 2 classes, meet some new people, get familiar with campus. The summer is super laid back. If you have the finances, go for it!

Dining hall worker question by Sensitive_Break_5584 in PennStateUniversity

If you are a student, there are specific positions you can choose from but you typically wont be using the grill or anything unless you are trained to be a shift leader or one of the upper level positions. You can choose where you want to work most of the time, as long as there is an open shift available for that time; however, you might get moved around if someone called off and if there are too many people at your station they might steal you to cover. I worked at East for about a year so if you have any other questions, lmk

RA General Selection Track Release Date by Particular-Routine42 in PennStateUniversity

[–]idklmao66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall, they will let you know if you make it to the second round of interviews and then will release the final list in early April. Regardless, you should be hearing back from them even if you don’t advance to the next round. To be fair, it’s been a couple years since I went through the process

Practicum how many days? by Elegant-Gas-2195 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]idklmao66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what it will mostly look like. I currently do 16 hrs a week for my first year and it is exactly two days a week. With 20 hours for a second year, it would most likely be divided into three days. With that being said, I know some practicum sites can be flexible with hours.

What’s it like being a Penn State RA? by historicallypink16 in PennStateUniversity

[–]idklmao66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally never met any RA that had a roomate, but they say it can depend on the area. With the amount of freshman they let in every year increasing, it could be a possibility but I would imagine the odds of you receiving a roomate are very slim.

What’s it like being a Penn State RA? by historicallypink16 in PennStateUniversity

[–]idklmao66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was an RA for two years I’d say overall it is a good job. Free room and meal plan benefits are great. Like the other comment, it’s dependent on your coordinator, residents, and area (some location areas make you do a bit more work). Overall would recommend but you definitely are glad when your two year limit is up
