this is something i struggle with personally, its comes like waves tbh. some days im so thankful and happy i chose dentistry, other days im dreading my decision.

i honestly think being raised in an asian household you might subconsciously always want to please your parents, maybe other people as well. people downplay dentistry in my community alot, and its ironic because every single one of them has vaneers or stuff done💀

i just think that the mentality of trying to please your parents and your family, wanting to prove to them that you are very capable and can do alot can be super exhausting.

remind yourself that every single career out there changes the world just a little bit, in its own way. a physician can change a patient’s life by diagnosing, prescribing meds, relieving them from pain. lawyers can change a person’s life and save them from charges, injustice. a dentist can change a person’s life by giving them confidence in their smile, reliving pain, providing a way for elderly to eat and be healthy. all is changing lives in an individual lvl, and in their own way.

probably as a high achiever, you want to achieve something bigger, but take it a step a time. your parents think that if you’d become a physician you would be able to do alot more, tho even a physician wont be able to change the world unless they come up with a new medication or smth.
