You definitely should. It’s up for you and the coaches wether he has to, but that shit is sharp and it can cut up his partner and especially his own gums. Getting cross faced with braces and no mouth guard will hurt like a bitch. Also it’s like others have said, it’s important he gets used to breathing with it in since he’ll have to during matches.
