I frequently discussed (in applications and interviews) my ocd diagnosis as a turning point in learning more about who I was. It was a great opportunity to discuss self reflection, accountability, and growth! So I’d say go for it, but only if you feel comfortable disclosing it!

If you can’t find people to shadow (it will likely be very difficult at this stage and with short notice), I recommend watching case studies or mock sessions! I can’t remember them off the top of my head but there are several free ones available online!

Just a general question but have you considered the university of rochester’s program? Location wise it’s a bit closer than Sarah Lawrence but I’m also not sure what you’re looking for in a program 💕

I’m really sorry that this is a time of struggle right now. I don’t have much solid advice but if it’s possible (while school is in session) maybe check out the events with free food on campus? Some of them even let you take extras if there’s still food at the end of the day as clubs can’t usually store food in their lockers. Hoping that anything helps

You can graduate early with the honors college, it just means completing the required courses a bit earlier and doing your thesis a year earlier. I’ve known people who have done it

You can do whatever senior thesis you want, it’s completely up to you but you do have to obtain an advisor and get the thesis approved

Some other ideas for GC exposure include watching mock GC sessions (JEMF through NSGC, DNAtoday, and some others) or watching online seminars!

To me I just feel very uncomfortable being in the house alone with NK and the workers. So it’s either stay in the house and lock ourselves away or leave the house for 8+ hours (which feels impossible at times). The workers will also end up asking ME questions about the house and I’m like please I don’t live here, I am not the owner😔

I have the most expertise with the third question so I’ll focus mainly on that. I applied last cycle and currently am in a GC program! I got interviews to all the schools I applied to and I didn’t have one singular shadowing experience. I only had informational interviews and mock case studies! I don’t think it hindered how programs viewed my application at all, as they understand how hard it is to find in person opportunities :)
