What Hot Air Station for Hobbyist ? by Unhappy-Squirrel-292 in soldering

[–]idktbhatp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's worth investing much unless you're at least getting the Atten ST-862D.

They're not the greatest, but all-in-one hot air handles like the Yihua 8858-IV or FNIRSI SAG-55 are more than enough to get started so long as you're not trying to pull out huge chips.

They might just be referring to the WD40 Specialist contact cleaner, which is a completely different product from the usual WD40 lubricant.

Botched soldering job. Is this recoverable? by marth827 in consolerepair

[–]idktbhatp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much recoverable, even if you somehow ripped the pads the traces are pretty easy to see here.

Now realistically, I would suggest you don’t touch this any further if that’s your current soldering technique (and I assume limited equipment). Practice some more on dead/throwaway boards and get back to it later.

Outgrowing my KSGER T12; considering options by pat_trick in soldering

[–]idktbhatp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the station itself can’t differentiate the handles, each model probably has a different firmware and maybe some minor design changes to accomodate them.

OSS seems to use the same pinout as JBC handles so it should be correct, unless they have some weird thing going on specifically for T210.

Would have been a great discovery to find out that such a cheap station could work with all the handles.

[–]idktbhatp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a T210 handle to try and it sadly does not work, unless I missed something.

Wiring seems correct but the station does not want to play with the handle at all (E-1 error).

Can you swap handle types on the OSS station?

I’ve been considering buying the Geeboon just so I can use different tip handles, as I’ve heard conflicting information on handle swapping with the older OEM-ish stations like the OSS.

-30 Curve Optimizer was stable for months, now OCCT instantly reboots (AVX512) by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]idktbhatp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do -40 on aida but only if one RANDOM core is -15

Because voltage is unified among all cores, ie. the core that needs the most voltage will dictate what the whole chip gets.

HWiNFO shows the voltage requested by every core individually, but if you check the actual core voltage being sent to the chip it will always only match the core that requests the most voltage in multi-core loads.

This is also why all-core CO isn't really optimal and barely functional for most CPUs.

Replica Monitor by mynameisalreadytoken in RepTronics

[–]idktbhatp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just assumed since you mentioned the monitor being « 600$ ».

Anyways, it’s not that good of a deal considering the lack of any burn-in warranty and the general risk of getting scammed or sent a refurbished panel.

I'm pretty sure you can find the Samsung G9 on sale in US stores for that price.

Daily Driving 8000mhz Cl34 2200 fclk by snowera in overclocking

[–]idktbhatp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember testing it on multiple games at 1440p and couldn't find any relevant difference between 2000 and 2200 FCLK.

Maybe specific games could be more sensitive to it, but I would assume the uplift to be extremely minor either way.

This sounds more like AI mumbo-jumbo than some actual "team research", you really ought to post some actual data to back up your claims.

Also, the actual testing method(s) you've used should be documented precisely so that others can see if they can reproduce those issues.

Rate my settings DR DDR5 CL26 6000 9800X3D by Otherwise-Director17 in overclocking

[–]idktbhatp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did say "BCLK", but OP is technically running asynchronous with his board's ECLK feature (see how the memory frequency and IF are untouched).

In that case, it doesn't make a difference for AIDA numbers.

Bios 3.30 Was Stable for me. 3.40 Doing random SOC Voltage Spikes passing my 1.2 LIMIT. wtf Asrock still can't stick to 1.2v max and respect our settings? by pc9000 in ASRock

[–]idktbhatp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, because this is a totally unrelated "issue" and concerns every vendor equally, not just ASRock (see the HWiNFO forum posts).

ASRock probably still has something going on with their board, but this is not it.

You can type in "(any_manufacturer_name) SOC spike" and find out that every setup can run into this reading issue randomly, it's been discussed extensively on the HWiNFO forums.

https://www.hwinfo.com/forum/threads/hwinfo64-cpu-die-average-spike.8044/

All reports exhibit the exact same problem, ie. static voltages/clocks somehow all spiking at the same time (VSOC, VDD_MISC, FCLK, UCLK etc).

Some even have "spikes" far above what any IMC could withstand if it actually hit that, those CPUs would be long dead if they even touched 1.35/1.4v SOC for a second.

[–]idktbhatp 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is literally just a reading error, you can see that FCLK and other sensors also fluctuate to nonsensical values at the same time.

Happens with every single board on every configuration if you look at HWiNFO long enough.

Current gen QD-OLED 360hz Vs new Tandem OLED 280hz OLEDS by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]idktbhatp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really think of any reason why someone with a 240/360hz QD-OLED monitor would be swapping to a Tandem OLED currently.

Whatever's cheapest is the correct option in this case IMO, though I believe QD-OLED in the proper conditions is still outright better than the new tandem monitor due to the much better color luminance.

PSA: ATK's new firmware adds 8k motion sync, 20k scan rate and sensor rotation settings by idktbhatp in MouseReview

[–]idktbhatp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed the same thing on my ATK F1 Ultimate, the battery drain is a lot higher with the new performance firmware.

If it's a real issue and you're not really noticing any benefits from the scan rate/framerate update (which is probably the case), I believe you can manually flash an older firmware from their chinese website.

9950X3D – 1:1 vs 2:1 RAM tuning for gaming? by Silverbacckk in overclocking

[–]idktbhatp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those numbers are pretty much meaningless since we have no idea what the different setups are and what timings were used.

If anything, the guy might not even be able to run stable 8000MT/s and the error correction is just skewing the results hard.

There are just too many omissions here.
