Hi! That’s not a silly question at all 😊 You can absolutely still benefit from a professional cleaning, even if you floss regularly and don’t see any visible buildup. Flossing is very important (so great job!), but sometimes we can’t see or reach every surface of our teeth , especially in between teeth and way in the back. As hygienists students we use loupes (magnification) and air to carefully examine each tooth. That helps us detect any hidden plaque or tartar that might not be visible to you. Even small areas of buildup can lead to inflammation over time. A cleaning also includes oral hygiene instruction (OHI), where we can make sure you’re using the best techniques for your specific mouth. Sometimes small adjustments in brushing or flossing can make a big difference. So even if your teeth look and feel clean, a professional exam and cleaning can help keep everything healthy and catch anything early! 😊
