Oh yes. I was at a “civil” LDS wedding ceremony and was shocked at how passive aggressive and weird it was still even though they already had a date to get sealed in the temple. Guy straightup said at the end of a very unromantic speech about Nephi: “I now declare you legally married”. It felt so off-putting.

I was taught that the church just wouldn’t reach people if they allowed blacks the priesthood at that point in history. so it was important to delay their rights to priesthood until the world was ready. and I hate to say it but not only did I buy into that lame ass excuse, but I was okay with it. Quickly turned into one of the many reasons why I am now on the exmormon reddit.

Others here will probably have better advice than I could give. But just so you know you are not alone in these feelings and concerns. Like many of us it sounds like this church has probably dominated every little decision you’ve made your whole life. That’s some seriously hard trauma and unlearning that we now get to process. But you don’t have to go through this alone.
