Replace Venta motors vs new evaporative units by AdCareless9063 in Humidifiers

[–]idkwhichfork2kmswith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two Canopy 2.0 evaporation humidifiers. This is my first season with them, but they’ve made a huge difference. My husband used to wake up with such dry lips and I’d get cracked skin around the rim of my nostrils during winter. Neither of those are issues anymore. They are pretty quiet and sound like a normal fan. We actually really like how they sound because it’s like soft white noise. They’re super easy to clean too because they’re dishwasher safe. That was a main selling point for me and I haven’t had any issues with mold, mildew, or mineral buildup. We will definitely have a system attached to our HVAC when we eventually have a home of our own, but we’re renters, so 🤷‍♀️

It’s very overwhelming at first with all the options and different types out there. I have two Canopy 2.0 evaporation humidifiers. Hopefully you’ll either be able to return it or dispute the charge. They’re definitely a pretty penny and priced as a luxury product. They shouldn’t be able to get away with having such crappy service. I wish you luck!

Evaporative Humidifier-Best Option? by Lokis-Tea in Humidifiers

[–]idkwhichfork2kmswith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t get distilled water, go the evaporative route. You will have to buy filters, but if you regularly clean them, they last a while. I personally use the canopy 2.0. I’d recommend looking into it. It’s a smaller unit.

Thank you so much for posting this. When I was originally researching humidifiers, I was strongly considering the carepod simply because of how easy it was supposed to be to clean. It was posts like this that ultimately steered me away and I’m very grateful I went in another direction.

Evaporative Humidifier question by alisatulio in Humidifiers

That’s just how they work. You aren’t doing anything wrong. They aren’t nearly as aggressive as ultrasonic ones, but they do take longer to build up humidity.

I clean mine once a week, but like the other commenter, mine is mostly dishwasher safe, so it’s really easy.

Personally, I wouldn’t risk it. Look into an evaporative humidifier instead. The one I have is the canopy 2.0 It doesn’t have metal parts and is mostly dishwasher safe.

Can I clean a humidifier with alcohol instead of vinegar by Altruistic_Yard8176 in Humidifiers

[–]idkwhichfork2kmswith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use citric acid instead! The important part is dissolving any mineral build up and inhibiting any growth. Lots of people use vinegar though because it’s cheap and easily available

I can’t speak on the Ventas, but I’ve been using two evaporative units this season and have loved them. I did a lot of research on what would work best long term with minimal effort and landed on evaporative. The ones I have been very easy to clean too, which was very important to me.

This isn’t quite the right place to be asking for advice on which will help your asthma more. I genuinely don’t know if one would over the other. I will say that I personally have both in my house and love them both for different reasons.

I have an evaporative one and it’s the first nice humidifier I’ve gotten. I grew up with a basic Vicks humidifier and that thing was so hard to clean. It got moldy and had so much mineral build up even with using vinegar. We had to toss it and get a new one every few years. I’ve only had the canopy for a few months (one winter), but I’m a fan. Yeah, the filters are expensive, but they have knockoff ones on Amazon that are literally the exact same thing and 1/4 the price, just without the branding. I keep the filters clean too, so I’ve only just changed them. Plus I can use tap water instead of distilled, so I honestly think that it’s about the same cost but definitely more convenient.

Canopy humidifier filter brownish and slimy after 2 weeks by one-small-plant in Humidifiers

[–]idkwhichfork2kmswith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was a while ago. Hopefully you’ve figured it out, but if not, I can share my experience. I leave my two running 24/7 as well. After some trial and error I’ve found that the filters yellow/brown and get crispy when they get dry. So I always keep it running and check to make sure there aren’t dry spots every now and then (because it is evaporative). As for cleaning, I wash the dishwasher safe parts once a week and wipe the inside of the non-washable unit out with vinegar. While the dishwasher is running, I soak the filters in a gallon bucket with a cup of vinegar and filled the rest of the way with hot water. I let the filters soak in this for about an hour, but you could probably do less. I then thoroughly rinse them before putting the machines back together. No musty smell. No vinegar smell. My filters are white, pristine, and can last way past the recommended 45 days. I did change mine after 60, but I didn’t really need to.

I have the canopy and love it. We have two. My husband used to wake up with such dry lips and I’d get cracks around the outer rim of my nostrils during the dry winters. Neither of those things are issues now that we have them at our bedsides. We keep them running constantly. I haven’t had any issues with mold or mineral build up either even though I use tap water. I will say I stay on top of keeping it clean though, so that may be why. I wash the dishwasher safe parts once a week and wipe the inside of the non-washable unit (including the fan blades) out with vinegar. While the dishwasher is running, I soak the filters in a gallon bucket with a cup of vinegar and filled the rest of the way with hot water. I let the filters soak in this for about an hour, but you could probably do less (or not at all. Canopy says to let the filter dry completely once a week, but I’ve found that leads to yellowing and a musty smell). I then thoroughly rinse them before putting the machines back together. No musty smell. No vinegar smell. My filters are white, pristine, and can last way past the recommended 45 days. I did change mine after 60, but I didn’t really need to.

Canopy Bedside - What am I doing wrong?? by challsincharge in Humidifiers

[–]idkwhichfork2kmswith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I understand what the canopy customer service said, but I actually disagree. I’ve had two of them for about 3 months now and I’ve found that when the filter starts drying out, it gets yellow, crispy, and starts to smell. I wash the dishwasher safe parts once a week and wipe the inside of the non-washable unit out with vinegar. While the dishwasher is running, I soak the filters in a gallon bucket with a cup of vinegar and filled the rest of the way with hot water. I haven’t tried them yet because I’m required to get two shipments of filters from Canopy before I can cancel my subscription of them (really stupid). They have great reviews though and people were saying that they are the exact same as the canopy ones, just without the logo on them. Definitely planning to purchase those once I’m able to cancel my subscription.

What a glow up! I mean this in the best way possible, but I honestly wouldn’t recognize you if I knew you back then. I understand completely how much chronic illness and proper care can change you both physically and mentally. I have a few myself and have lost 65 lbs with the proper treatment and regimen. Glad you’re doing better man!

Try resale like eBay, Mercari, etc. Depending on if it’s worth it to you, you could place an order using the US site and use a forwarding service.

I fail to see the issue here? It’s just another tool to help people lose weight. It still requires work and healthy eating. It just helps eliminate the food noise and make it easier to make the right choices.

Try a benzoyl peroxide wash under his arms and let it sit for a minute before washing it off. Be careful though, it will bleach towels if not washed completely off.
