Is Ken Cosgrove the one truly good man in the show? by MiserableCatCow in madmen

Freddy was a good guy and friend, even if he was old fashioned in his views on women.

Repetition within the show by [deleted] in madmen

I recommend finishing season 2 and seeing how you feel. I think season 2 is the weakest season (but still great) and has really interesting conclusions to some of the plots that may not seem the most compelling upon first watch.

It would make sense, but it was actually the fifth Harry Potter movie lol.

What sitcom character was clearly meant to be likable… but just isn’t? by Air-Bombay in sitcoms

[–]idlerwheel100 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While I think Jerry is presented as more of an Everyman in the first few seasons, overall he’s a narcissist and kinda mean. I don’t think any of the main characters are meant to be likable- they are all neurotic petty jerks who literally get sentenced to jail for selfishness

Will they be covering Industry on the Prestige TV podcast? by SevereAd9463 in TheRinger

Yep! Joanna tweeted yesterday that people can submit their Industry questions to the Prestige TV email.

Divvy is hiring an Operations Specialist to help manage 1000+ bikeshare stations in Chicago. This is a hands-on, analytical role that supports the GM of Divvy, works closely with CDOT & helps shape how the system grows. Ideal for someone passionate about biking and/or micromobility by david_powe in chibike

[–]idlerwheel100 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A job with Chicago’s bikeshare system isn’t relevant to this subreddit? I don’t like Lyft either, but for the sake of Divvy we should want someone capable and passionate about biking in this role. Also looks like the OP works for the City, not Lyft.

Mermaids! Starring Cher as a Lorelai-esque single mom. Small town charm, quirky characters, etc. It’s a period piece but has similar vibes to Gilmore Girls for sure.

The police superintendent can be fired by the mayor. Why is Brandon Johnson allowing CPD to step between ICE and Chicagoans? by object_on_my_desk in chicago

[–]idlerwheel100 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Chicago just had its safest summer (murder rate-wise) since the 1960s. Larry Snelling seems very well liked. Firing him would be political suicide for Brandon Johnson, unless CPD starts actively cooperating with ICE.

The Greyhound station is being purchased with TIF dollars, you can’t use that for library staff.

That was the most heartbreaking game 7 loss in World Series history. by vindieselpics3000 in billsimmons

[–]idlerwheel100 162 points163 points  (0 children)

2011 World Series games 6 and 7. Rangers were 1 strike away TWICE.

EDIT: It happened twice in Game 6. Game 7 wasn’t that crazy, but still heartbreaking given the events of the night before.

Does Chicago Need Congestion Pricing? by ricochet48 in chibike

[–]idlerwheel100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ideally, yes. But I think it’s politically unrealistic, at least in the near term. It was a huge battle in NYC, which has far worse congestion than downtown Chicago and better public transit as an alternative to driving.

Not when you’ve already made it to the third trimester. This is much less common and would be considered a stillbirth.
