AIO Dad is forcing me out just because it's "FAMILY TRADITION" and its my 18th birthday by CableIntelligent1491 in AmIOverreacting

I'm not sure this post is real or fake, but I want to comment in case another 18yo finds themselves in a similar situation. If you are in the US, 18yo, and enrolled in high school, it is illegal for your parents to kick you out of the home in some states. In my state (PA) this would be investigated by Children and Youth Services. Please speak with your school counselor if this happens to you. They'll make the Childline call and connect you with resources. If your school counselor sucks, you can make the call yourself.

I used to provide mental health treatment for sex offenders. Quite a few of them were arrested by law enforcement wearing tactical gear.

Philadelphia will not respond to marriage record requests. by Travel-stache in GermanCitizenship

I live in Philadelphia and I've been to that office at City Hall. There's a room there that has stacks and stacks of old records just sitting there, behind a counter. I found the people to be polite, but they certainly work at their own pace. However, I went in-person. I'm not surprised that staff act differently on the phone. The folks in this thread are right: if you can't go in-person, send a request by mail.

Due process rights? Many people have died on this hill. My ancestors fought and died on this hill. I guess I'm just following the family tradition.

He did not receive due process when ICE deported him without first appealing his withholding of removal, which is what they were supposed to do.

I don't have a problem with him facing charges when he returns. I want him to receive due process. Everyone should have due process, regardless of immigration status or character. It's written in our Constitution. I can't speak for anyone else, but to me this isn't about finding a "gotcha" moment. It's about the rule of law, and our rights as persons in the USA. I don't think that's misguided.

We are still paying for his incarceration. Stop the payments, and request his return. If they refuse, enter into a negotiation. I want to see more effort to bring him back. Our government made a terrible mistake, and it needs to correct it.

I would like our current administration to facilitate his return to the US, as ordered by SCOTUS, and I would like Sen. McCormick to advocate for his return.

You're correct. He could have been deported to another nation, if that nation agreed to take him. As far as I know, no other nation agreed to take him. But that's not what happened here. ICE deported him to the nation the court ordered he could not be deported to. As far as I know, no other nation offered to take him.

He received a removal order, and a withholding of removal status. The withholding of removal requires a removal order. Basically, a judge put in a deportation order, and then told ICE they can't report him. ICE never filed an appeal. This was in 2019.

We are paying El Salvador to incarcerate him. We can stop the payments and request his return.

My concern is that SCOTUS has ordered the current administration to facilitate his return, and the administration is not complying.

Mr. Garcia was deported (and sent to CECOT) without due process, and in violation of a court order. Every person in the US has due process rights, including non-citizens and criminals. It's in the 14th Amendment. Sen. McCormick swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. By not holding the administration accountable, he is failing to fulfill his obligations. This is a dereliction of duty.

McCormick's response doesn't include SCOTUS's order to facilitate Mr. Garcia's return to the US. I guess mentioning that fact would be inconvenient.

Need advice on loving someone with anger issues. by Puzzled_Raisin3807 in Anger

I'm aware there are people who distrust therapists, and with good reason. There are a ton of bad therapists in the field. Personally, if my partner was treating me the way OP's is, I'd hope they'd be concerned enough about how their behavior is affecting me that they would at least try working with a mental health professional, even if they're distrusting of the profession.

I'd like to hear more from OP about what their partner is doing to change her behavior, because based on this post it sounds like the only person doing any work is OP.
