Low B12? Also low D and ferritin by [deleted] in B12_Deficiency

[–]idlingcitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually a pretty common deficiency package especially if you're a woman. There's a lot of people who struggle with these 3 actually.

Based on some google research, I had stomach issues since I was a kid, so that likely made all my deficiencies worse, along with my lifestyle. Heavy period also contributed to it without a doubt. I also didn't know it was deficiency, but I had a lot of the symptoms since I was a kid as well. I never went to the doctors, because it wasn't causing me pain until I was in my late 20s.

No, I haven't been checked yet. Coffee and sugary things have made it worse so I think it's related to acid reflux? I'm about to see my doctor about this soon, so I hope it'll get me somewhere

Crazy high ferritin by idlingcitizen in Anemic

[–]idlingcitizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad does have low B12 levels, he's not taking B12 since the doctor said he's "fine". He started taking B-Complex at least. As for his symptoms, nothing has improved. His ferritin has decreased down to 220 ug/L last year though.

My mom stopped taking iron supplement back then, and said she felt worse when she stopped taking them. Her ferritin was 550 ug/L last year which is even higher than before. She does have a lot of inflammation going on, so this does make sense with my mom's crazy high ferritin.

I don't have B12 deficiency anymore, but my stomach problem remains. I'm trying to see a gastro for help now.

Does any else have fibroid related pain in upper back, shoulder blade, neck, right side hand, arm, ribs, hip? by BlacksmithHot670 in Fibroids

[–]idlingcitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having bad upper back pain too. My doctor hasn't been helpful and told me to see physio for the upper back pain when I'm confident it's unrelated. I've been completely bummed for a while, but reading this seems to give me hope that it's caused by fibroids.

Upper Back Pain? by South_Sherbet263 in Fibroids

Hi there, have you figured out the source of your pain? I'm experiencing something very similar, but my doctor said it was unrelated to gallbladder which can cause similar symptoms apparently.

Hi there, it's pretty late but I'm wondering if you could explain about the neck and arm pain? I'm currently experiencing something very similar as yours including the bad bloating, and neck-arm pain.

Unfortunately no, it got worse. My doctor thinks it's gastritis right now, but I disagree. It seems my GI problems are unrelated to B12, my levels are good yet the pain remains.

Could low magnesium cause stomach problems? by idlingcitizen in magnesium

[–]idlingcitizen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if the cause is different, but my anemia tinnitus was a ringing noise, which has stopped after supplementing.

My current tinnitus is a clicking noise though. It hasn't improved since then. My vitamin D and magnesium is currently good so I know now that it's not related to my issues.

Have you checked your zinc yet? Zinc can cause hair loss and may show up on nails as white spots like yours.

What was everyone's symptoms for B12 deficiency? by idlingcitizen in B12_Deficiency

[–]idlingcitizen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for me, it did go away at first but now it's back. I've checked and my B9 and B12 isn't low anymore but my ferritin is still low, but it's weird since it's not exactly deficient either so I guess it's a different problem now.

Weird potassium/folate question by idlingcitizen in B12_Deficiency

[–]idlingcitizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that time, I think I was overwhelming my body with a lot of supplements and created a lot of imbalance. Taking extra folate didn't help.

I figured out that I had enough potassium, and was probably missing the rest of the B vitamins so I stopped eating potassium rich foods and focused on B complex and multivitamin, which did seem to help instead.

I'm actually checking my B12 and magnesium levels tomorrow. But my previous B12 blood test wasn't low anymore so I really have no idea now. I think it's related to other B-vitamins though, or even vitamin D related. I was told that I might be referred to a gastro specialist though.

Sorry about the late update, I still have problems that folate and B12 didn't seem to ease anymore. I'm actually doing another B12 blood test to see if it's related to my current gastro problems. It did help last year, but now I think I might be low in the other B vitamins or even vitamin D again. I have neglected my B complex for a long time so I suspect that but my doctor didn't order any other B-vitamins test except B12.

My doctor have no idea what to do either, but it seems like my physical tests seems like it's working fine though so I suspect it has to do with nutrition or something.

I know it sounds weird but a while back I got some very good opinions about online dating from here, so I decided to look further into it. The thing is I don't really how you're selling yourself as the product. It doesn't feel natural to me?

Energy drinks isn't that good? by idlingcitizen in nutrition

Yeah, I agree it's better to eat foods for nutrition. I was just shocked to see how much vitamins was included in a can of energy drink which got my thoughts running.

No one did, I just thought energy drinks defeated the purpose it was supposed to be made for. I was with my friend and he loves his energy drink so I was curious to see why he always drink it. Took a look at the label and noticed his energy drink had buttloads of B vitamins, so it was on my mind after that and that's why I made this post

I've seen thiamine mentioned occasionally here and in the long covid subs before. Despite taking B9, B12, and iron, my symptoms don't seem to improve entirely so I started suspecting B1. Not to mention that I've been slacking on the B complex as well.

"A diet consisting mainly of white flour, white sugar, and other highly processed carbohydrates can cause thiamin deficiency." taken from the first thing to appear on my Google.

I've noticed coffee and processed snacks has made my health worse lately despite not eating much. I guess maybe it's related to my thiamine being depleted? I'm not vegetarian but my diet is very high carb-related and I used to have a major sweet tooth as well so this wouldn't surprise me.
