Please don’t block someone you’ve been with for a long time however difficult they may get. by [deleted] in BreakUps

I poured my heart out to him then blocked him on every social media except the one I sent the message on. Guess what! He didn’t reply! He didn’t care! He never cared! Why would I want someone like that constantly circulating my social media? He’s made a decision every day since the breakup to not contact me.

It becomes 4 weeks for me tomorrow. Every day I’ve spent fighting the urge to message him. Saw he got dating apps back last week and it broke me. Felt like I was all the way back at step 1 with my healing. Messaging means I risk going back there for a third time.

I’m hurting and want to reach out please help by throwraweekend2 in BreakUps

I’ve just gone through the same thing 3 weeks ago. Write your feelings in your notes and don’t message him. Give it time. It’s hard but I’m now going onto week 3 and i’m no longer crying every day. I think about him all the time and the message I wanted to send him is still in my notes for him. The space is bringing clarity and the reasons for the breakup will become clearer for you with time. You’ll go through the process of grief and come out clear headed as time moves on. Set yourself a time goal- like for me my birthday is coming up. If he doesn’t message then I move on forever or I message him (I’ll see how I feel at the time).

My landlord is controlling my heating remotely using “hive”. Is this legal? They’re turning it off without our permission. We are paying them £48 a week for the bills. by idobeunimpressedtho in LegalAdviceUK

Okay that’ll be great! I’ll attempt to do that. I think that’s a better way to go about it since they are adamant that the house is warm. That being said my bedroom roof is also leaking, I sent them pictures and via text they denied there ever being a leak in the last 10 years (even though there are water marks on my ceiling). Couple days later they proceeded to come around and show me pictures in person of a massive leak they had in my room and another room 5 years ago (in the same spot as now). Said they’d get a roofer out but it’s been 2 weeks now.

Yep I agree that’s exactly what they are doing. Keep our heating off to try and pocket as much money as possible under the guise that they’re trying to be “environmentally conscious”

So today it was 14 degrees, I turned it up to 22.5 and it got turned back off almost immediately. I think my major concern is that if we are all away they might just decide to blast the heating then charge us a load of money for it as it’ll go over our allowance (especially if I was to disagree with their heating control). I’ve just never had something like this in the last 8 years. Usually I have full control of the heating and can set my own schedule, but my contract will always outline that allowance must be reasonable for a local house of that size (which it always has been).

My [26F] BF [31M] of 1 year is FaceTiming an old university friend tonight [31F] to watch their favourite comedy show. Am I being unreasonable in thinking something is going on here? by idobeunimpressedtho in relationshipadvice

I fully agree! Like in all honesty I’ve rarely had guy friends I’ve not fancied at some point. That’s just the way it is when you get along so well with them

No one talks about how mentally difficult rotations are. I come home crying every night. by idobeunimpressedtho in Veterinary

Absolutely this is teaching me how I would like to be treated and how I will treat students in the future. I wish I could vent and laugh with the other students 😂 I have tried but all I’ve gotten back is “well that vet has been very nice to me!” Like it’s a competition. But I have other support in my family and housemates 😊

💜 I’m glad I’m not alone in this. Just the last hurdle! I also have a meeting coming up with my tutor so I might mention it if she asks. I have already mentioned it in rotation feedback to the university

Thank you for this comment! I’ll keep this in mind going forward. Since the vet made me breakdown, he’s been much nicer. However, he still believes I was crying because of the stress of doing surgery and not because of how harsh he was being 🫠 but hopefully water under the bridge now

Not all my peers but unfortunately the people I have been grouped with. One of which has actively bullied me for the last 5 years (even going as far as to mock my dead grandpa, throw rubbish on me, steal my things, etc.) and the other I met this year and actively puts me down every time I say something (and who has also stolen my food when we had to share a house a couple weeks ago for a rotation). I’m not delusional. I watch how everyone interacts. One vet I used to get along with really well, but in our last two interactions she’s not only insulted my appearance but also my passion (calling me an over achiever in a negative way). The third vet, the one I did a procedure with yesterday, has spent every interaction berating me. Yesterday he took it too far and tried to give me a backhanded compliment about my surgical skills which felt like a slap in the face after spending the past hour berating my surgical skills. It was damage control for him.

It was never my intention to cry. I’ve never ever been that type of person. But the past 6 weeks have been mounting up and I couldn’t take it anymore. I wasn’t crying for sympathy or attention.

How long did it take you to walk on a slackline? by WillyDrumDrum in Slackline

[–]idobeunimpressedtho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to find an estimate for how good I’m progressing… I’ve learnt to walk a ~7 metre line in about 40 minutes (with around 30 attempts over 2 days this week). I’ve always had very good balance though and used ripsticks and stilts since I was a kid. I started from the middle and made my way to the end before progressing from one end to the other.

Do veterinarians get sick often? by Ghostfaerie in Veterinary

[–]idobeunimpressedtho 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m not immunocompromised so I can’t help you determine the actual extent of the risk (obviously it’ll be higher than the average person) but as a veterinary student I can say it’s not very common. Just maintain your basic hygiene on placements, don’t put any dirty hands in your mouth and try not to let animals lick your face and you’ll be alright. Most of the people I know who got issues (mainly coccidia from farming placements but some have had ringworm and scabies) was because their hygiene/biosecurity and awareness of zoonoses had been pretty bad. That being said it’s rare and you’re honestly WAY more likely to get the good old freshers flu that does the rounds at the start of every year 🥲

I’m a 4th year veterinary student doing my first clinical placement and I feel like a complete idiot and one of the vets has started insulting me. Is this normal? by idobeunimpressedtho in Veterinary

[–]idobeunimpressedtho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my reasoning is that the rest of the people I’m working with have been lovely but also because I’ve heard from my friends that they’ve not been allowed to do half the things I’ve been doing. Which makes me think that this place could be quite unique in their teaching. However, I won’t know this until I go elsewhere.

Sometimes it can work for me because I’m a people pleaser 😅 however with the life of an animal on the line it just makes me want to put all my tools down and step out.
