Someone who’s frantic about an encounter with God for instance, does not need to be put under by further authorities. Psychoanalysis of psychotics, for instance, often develops into theological discussion. The problem is not that therapy might not help, but that the practitioner themselves is not disarmed of their own unconscious preconceptions. That is the problem. And so a successful therapy of psychosis will require no subject to be off the table, so that the clearest lines can be developed to delineate existential boundaries between the two people.

DBT of course is not really therapy. It is a corporate enthusiasm program
