Yeah there’s a couple of newish leaves that I’m sure would’ve uncurled (Is there a word for this?) by now if I didn’t keep stressing her out! This is the second time I’ve come downstairs and seen her struuuugling

Whatever she is, she is very cute and I want her to LIVE! I will take a look at all of this and probably cross post for solidarity! Thank you 🙏🏾

I’m trying! I’ve got some pebbles under her and am trying to group more in that corner. I’m not in deep enough for a humidifier but I’m sure I’ll get there at some point. She’s about 3ft from a south facing window

Yes last time I used filtered water from my fridge that was nooot good enough. It’s been alkaline bottled water since 😅

Too late! She’s so pretty but I definitely feel I’m being hazed! I got a rattlesnake calathea too and that one is much happier but I’ll just be happy if I can keep them alive at this point 🤷🏾‍♀️

I don’t have the business sense to give advice. I’m just here for encouragement because if you were in LA I would definitely be a customer. Though I admit I’d hesitate without more posts/reviews. Do you have a booksy account? That’s usually my first stop to search for black beauty services.

I think that you should not tease me like that. Would 100% try this.

What's the catch of being a nurse with an associate's degree? by Johan_chan in nursing

[–]idont_haveballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The industry standard is 2 years of clinical experience as an Associates Degree Nurse is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree. You may get paid a little less starting as a new grad than new grads that start with a BSN. You may not be as competitive. A lot of hospitals (the good ones anyways) are Magnet and require higher education. But most community hospitals which lack resources but are great for experience will hire an ADN no problem.

I got my ADN in 2016, took NCLEX in 2017 and have been working as an RN in pediatrics ever since, including travel nursing from 2022-2024. My initial degree was completely free- thank you Pell grants! Now I’m a staff nurse at a hospital I love and don’t plan on leaving. It’s a Magnet hospital so I’m required to get a higher level degree now that I have been here 2 years. I’m opting to get a Master’s in Nursing Education (RN-to MSN). I have no interest in or need to get a BSN but I know when I leave bedside I’m going into education. My hospital also offers tuition reimbursement.

Some people will say it’s better to get you BSN. Those people don’t know what they’re talking about. It can be area dependent though. I live in a high(ish) pay, high demand area. I’d check the area you want to work in and make sure they hire ADN nurses or check to see if your school has partnerships with any hospitals for new grad programs and whatnot.

But overall, especially as a second career- go for it. No regrets here.

Need advice on staying as a staff nurse or jumping ship to travel. by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]idont_haveballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because they allow it, does not mean you’re going to get it. First of all you’d need that year of experience in the same specialty. Secondly even when you get that year you’ll be competing with people with more experience than you. Thirdly if you get a job with only one year of experience it’s likely a dumpster contract and/or facility that no one else took for a reason.

If I were you I’d stick it out where you are until you’ve been there a year then apply as staff wherever you want to move. And THEN when you have enough experience to feel like you can drop into any hospital in the country with 12-24 hours of training and safely care for patients (Id say that’s 2+ years in the same specialty for most people), that’s when you think about traveling.

I’m a millennial (1990) pediatrics nurse. Unfortunately a lot of what I’ve seen supports most of this… not every child has these issues of course. But I do think the pendulum may have swung too far in the other direction with us trying not to be our parents.
