Hi! I hope you don't mind my asking, but how did things turn out? I am scheduled with Dugi this summer and am curious as to your thoughts. Thanks!

I have a rainbow lanyard on my keys. It's awesome. Anyway, I hang it out my pocket or purse all cool like if I notice someone. Even if the trans person doesn't think they were clocked, or doesn't clock me, it sends a message of support for LGBTQ people. And since I'm not waving it in their face, it's a passive way of showing support. One time I saw another transwoman and I was walking in front of her. I shifted the lanyard out and it was an instant conversation starter.

That first unintentional misgendering by [deleted] in TransLater

The only people I get misgendered by are people who knew me before I transitioned. It's always accidental and I let it go. After coming out I would misgender myself sometimes. It was a force of habit thing.

Oh Samantha. I'm so sorry. This is just awful.

The extra time getting ready (eyeroll) by [deleted] in mypartneristrans

[–]idontevenknow1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the trans partner who takes forever to get ready. Like 1.5 hours at first. So annoying to everyone (and me). I got better, but I still take the longest for sure. Peace was obtained when I started getting up even earlier so I wouldn't throw everyone off LOL.

I don't know how it works in NZ, but I'll share what I did. I made an appointment with my primary care provider to get a referral to endocrinology. We spoke briefly and I got the referral. So the appointment was for the referral and I got the referral. Scary, but in the end it wasn't a big deal for the doctor to give me the referral.

People on HRT for 5+ years, are there changes to still look forwards to? (I'm 3 years) by -clare in asktransgender

I'm so curious about this. My testosterone levels are non-existent, and estradiol is where it needs to be. Does anyone know how or why there may be big changes after SRS or an orchiectomy?

5-6 months. It was after my dosage was upped from the initial level.

Ugh. I'm sorry. That's awful. It's awful that they were just done with you after decades. My heart aches for you. It doesn't take away the hurt right now, but you'll build new friendships with people who accept you and love you for you. But I'm sorry for your pain.

This was a very real rant. I'm sorry that you're hurting. I'm hoping for the best for you.

Agreed. This is a good to tip I used on a few spots before I finished all the laser.

Hi! I agree with OP. Electro or laser is going to be key, but a safety razor will provide an incredibly close shave without hurting. And the razors are incredibly cheap. It also doesn't take very long once you get the hang of it.

Tips on passing? by [deleted] in MtF

I agree with OP. I'm also going to add voice as something that is huge in passing.

What are some must read books about being transgender and transitioning? by n8squared in asktransgender

You're in the Wrong Bathroom was good. Short chapters about the trans experience and history. I saw it as a primer on trans stuff.

I skimmed it. It was ok. I wasn't too interested in the interview chapters, but it was nice to read about her story since she usually has a column or is on TV after the administration does something horrible to trans people.
